I was making a more general statement, to be sure. Class rules will definitely need to be taken into account when it comes to wheel weighting... The post above mine didn't include a lot of detail, so I answered more theoretically. Trying to be scale and keep a low COG can be difficult - I'd recommend keeping as much as possible off the wheels, whenever possible - but be aware some may need to go there! |

It's all personal preference...I don't scale out my rigs per-se, but I prefer the way a heavier rigs drives. Just feels more planted and drives more realistically to my eyes. I try to add weight as low as possible, and generally run a bit of weight in the wheels. (not 3 wraps of lead weight like in the days of old - holy cow!) In addition to total weight, I find getting a weight balance front/rear in the range of 55-60% of weight on the front wheels is the sweet spot, and then tune from there. Great discussion in any case. |
