Default rc4wd TF2 LC70

any opinions on this cool rig from rc4wd..? i think it has a drop bed wich to my aesthetic taste buds looks amazing. ..i'd like to add a crap load of hidden weight so the tires bulge and make the drivetrain actually grown and struggle. the physics of a heavy setup just looks better. besides,i seriously doubt the leaf springs articulate much. i google image this truck and sombody did a candy apple green paintjob and killer scale accessories.. absolutely beautiful.

Cool in concept. The problem is the bodies included in this package are the V1. They made some very nice improvements for the V2 ones, which I suspect is why we are seeing this combination anyways, RC4WD probably got quite the deal on a lot of the V1's.

Regardless, cool combo and the TF2 is a very capable platform.

Killerbody is who manufactures the LC70 body, not RC4WD. Version 1 of this body kit was released a little while ago, followed up not too shortly after by Version 2. The differences can found in this article.

RC4WD teamed up with Killerbody to package this LC70 body kit with RC4WD's long wheelbase (LWB) Tral Finder 2 chassis. I've been told the bodies included in this kit are the Version 1 bodies.

If the differences don't matter to you, buy the combo kit. If they do and you want the updated LC70 body, you'll have to either:
a) buy this kit AND the Version 2 body from Killerbody separately, and sell the V1 that comes with the kit
b) buy just the LWB chassis kit (no body) from RC4WD and buy the V2 body from Killerbody, plus look into whatever mounting brackets may come in the combo kit

I'd suggest option a) as it'll end up being a better deal financially and less of a headache in the end, especially when it comes to mounting.

Make sense now?

Default rc4wd TF2 LC70

I have bought this combination myself, and I'm amazed by the details of the body. I have a build thread on the TF2 section of the forum if you want to check out some of the details.

Mine had a little defect on the front bumper, but nothing I couldn't fix.

The LWB is an excellent platform, much like the standard WB TF2 on which it's based. I have the Mojave 2 4-door body on mine (which I like a lot), but the LC70 body is also a winner. Here's a little video I put together with some extended run time in a variety of terrain:

As for adding a ton of weight down low, I wouldn't recommend it. You'll end up putting unnecessary stress on the axles and drivetrain. If you set the suspension up well (check out the TF2 guide stickied here) and drive it properly, it's a very capable truck without resorting to adding tons of weight.

You've got a point on that. Check out the youtube channel of HeadQuake137. He makes bodies from wood, so they're pretty heavy. But when you look at the footage (especially high fps footage slowed down) it looks soooo realistic.

Headquake's stuff is amazing. But keep in mind that his trucks are TOP-heavy, not BOTTOM-heavy as the OP was originally suggesting. Top-heavy rigs are very realistic in motion, which is one of the reasons I love my G2 (10.5 lbs with steel roof rack), Cruiser and various other top-heavy trucks. Bottom-heavy rigs aren't realistic in motion, and adding lots of weight to the wheels will definitely cause things to wear out more quickly (esp. on a truck like the TF2).

True point, but as far as I could tell the OP only mentioned hidden weight, not low cog specifically. Regardless, I always instantly click on headquake's new vids, wish he would make more. Also, I would cut off my left nut to have his back yard

I Just re-read the original post and probably read in too much. So...I'll amend slightly by saying that I quite like the way heavy trucks drive, so I'm all for adding scale accessories like metal roof racks and other realistic scale accessories even though they add weight up top. But I wouldn't add weight just for the sake of adding weight, lol.

just looks cool to me is my point.. its worth it to me to break a part or two. fun to work on anyway. speed/timed comps aside wich im not interested in,nothing is going to wear out or break. adding weight is awesome.
