Default internal spring shocks

Hi, Are internal spring shocks any use? I bought a set and the internal spring only allows about half the possible travel of the shock?

The coil over design is much more tuneable. The coil on the outside allows for easy adjustment without the need to remove and tear down the shock. An internal spring design would only be of use for looks not performance.

I thought people did this mod with the internal spring under the damper for a semi or full droop style setup?

They are talking about these...

Front internal spring shocks, vs tradional coil over in rear.

Yes those as well as the pen mod. I have a set of Desert Lizzard shocks and I probably incorrectly assumed the internal spring was more for if you wanted a droop setup.

I am guessing there are internal sprung shocks that only use one internal spring above the damper? If so yes this would be more for looks and no performance gain.
