| Drag link/ panhard lengths?
How crucial is it to be the exact same length? Looking at Redcat’s specs, there’s a mm difference between the two with the panhard being longer. What do I lose/gain in trying to minimize the arc the axle travels on during compression?

The length difference between the drag link and the panhard bar is not a big deal. What IS a big deal is that the two need to be as parallel to each other as possible in order to avoid bump steer. Basically the steering geometry is what it is and there is not a lot you can change without screwing things up.

with any of our scale trucks our front axle traval is on the extreme side there isent realy a way to stop the swing many of us have tryed to minimise the swing and bump steer but there is no way to get rid of it all together i personaly made my panhard bar longer and relocated the mount on the outside of the frame rail and have no bump steer during normal driving i do get some bump steer under heavy articulation i like the long panhard bar but some people like a shorter panhard bar although i think its wrong some sware by it if your looking for advice i have some its a scale truck a toy do what ever you want to it there is no wrong way and everything can be undone and redone till your happy with it dosent mean we wont give you a hard time for running a short panhard bar though but thats all in good fun Last edited by ferp420; 02-10-2021 at 07:43 AM. |

Thanks guys. ferp420... I totally get your advice. So much so that I’ve been taking a Dremel to my Gen8 to get some things to work. I bought a panhard relocator but it doesn’t quite work out on the UGRC Labs chassis I’m using it on. I’ll find a way somewhere but for sure will have fun with it. |
