That’s the cable that’s attached from the front to the roof rack to keep branches from hitting the windshield

I've seen it done on other scale RC's, not the Gen 8 Scout though.

You could make your own pretty easy if you wanted.

I think these is more common outside of the states.

XtraSpeed makes a scale set of limb risers, they're most commonly use on Defenders.

Buddy of mine had them on his jeep.

Worked as intended with low overhanging branches going down tight woods trails.

While it helps with the windshield, the hood still gets it to a certain point and the roof definitely still gets scraped.

Mine already has beauty scars in the paint so I don’t worry.

For actual limbs, we broke the chainsaw out.

If you don't like them or see the need, fine - but the fact remains that they are used in 1:1 vehicles, just not normally on what you see on the road.

They are most often used when driving through the jungle, like the Camel Trophy races where they are typically breaking new trail:

I live in a heavily wooded area. I could see the use for them on a 1:1 and therefore they would have their place on a scale vehicle.

I haven't seen them on a gen 8. It would be odd for me to see them on a scout. I am used to seeing them on euro and asian wheelers. I recently watched an older video from rc girl and she has them on one of her vehicles, maybe a trx, they look kinda cool and kinda not right.

Made me chuckle, was reading more on the new Bronco and it referred to the Trail Sights on the leading corner of the front fenders as load-bearing eyelets - so you might be seeing them more!

load-bearing eyelets? That’s a new one. Curious to see what else they’d put them on.

I originally brought up this topic because I got some wiper blades from Club5 and am afraid of loosing them out on the trails.

Oooooohhh... so you just need wiper blade armour? Why didn't you say so? The JCWhitney catalog should have you covered, same page as their angry eye grilles and "it's a Jeep thing..." bumper stickers.

Since the Gen 8 has such a boxy style, you might be able to make a wiper shroud or cowl out of scrap Lexan and use small hardware with nuts securing it, and use small additional scraps under the body to help keep the hardware from pulling through the Lexan if you do happen to get the shroud/cowl snagged on something while driving it.

Alaskan off-road something or other on Netflix or Amazon? Terrible show, but I made it all the way through a couple years ago.
