Default which would work better

ok, so i wanna build a rig that can do it all, crawl, bash, mud, and can go some what fast. so i've been looking at tamiya's hummer, and XC but there way out of my price range. so im going to build a truck.

and so i ask, what would work better clod, or tlt axles.

if the axial is pricey, don't even start thinking about a clod crawler. the investment in a complete axe ten might yield you a clod roller, maybe.

A Tamiya XC is about as cheap as you can get for any type of trail worthy rig. Its a trail truck, not a crawler though and tires should be the first upgrade.

If ya cant afford a Axial kit, youll never be able to afford the electronics to put into it.. Get a Nylint if you aint got the cash to spend. Thats the closest thing I can think of for cheap.. I personally would start saving.

TLT is still the cheapest. You can find those axles for around $80 still. The Axail is the easiest way to go. It comes with everything, but Elect... You can still build a 2.2 Clod, Axial, WheelyKing or TLT for about the Same as an Axial. The Axial Kit just does it for ya.

The Nylint isn't a Basher and it won't last if you can even find one thats not broke. I'm sitting on 3 1/6th Nylint that are all broke...

TLT axles $80
Tranny AX-10, Pede, Stealth $55
Drive Shafts $20
Motor $20 and up
Shocks $40
Links $12 and up
Reuse and mod the Stock One
Body $20 and up New or Used
ESC $30 and up
Radio gear TQ2 $35
Battery $20
2.2 Tires $25
Wheels $15

$332 Total

Axial Kit $230
ESC $30
radio gear $25
Battery $20
Motor $20

$325 Total

Clod
Axles $90 and up
Motors $40 and up
Chassis: $45 and up
Wheel's $15
Tires $25
Motor mounts $15
ESC $30 and up
radio gear $25
battery $20
Body $20

$320 Total

It all comes out about the Same. But the Axle is all New and bolts right up. Takes all the Fab'ing out of it. It's a nice kit and worth the money anyone really. Now I left out Pinions and Spurs out of the TLT and Clod builds, but thats really pocket change.

If you buy the 3wd WheelyKing you need to buy the 4wd Kit. Which is another $40 or so.

What is your budget? I would say save your pennies since I don't think you'll be happy with the Tamiya Hummer or XC overall. They make a great scaler but I think since you're also interested in a crawler and basher also, then you'll need to move up to a TLT or Axial based rig. Keep an eye in the For Sale section (rcc or elsewhere) or on ebay. You probably can pick you a roller for less than $200 (just be patience) or even a ARTR/RTR in the $300-$400 price range. I picked up an used Axial ARTR (just needed a radio/receiver - another $30) for $400 here.

Maybe, but you still have to buy bearings and JB weld. Axials are still the better deal. New in box TLT's for $75 are almost nonexistant now a days.

I'd get the axial axles, build them up, wait a while and start buying pieces here and there as funds allow till the build is complete.
