Still needs Esc, RX and battery pack, but the build has kept me busy while this CV crap has been going on

This build started with a secondhand B6.1

I added a SC6.1 chassis, side rails, body mounts and rear tower

The SC tower is a bit too tall for the 27.5mm rear buggy shocks, so I’ve ordered a Jconcepts rear drag tower, which I’m still waiting to arrive

I’ve also ordered this wheelie bar, I’ve gone for the 9” G10 version

From

https://www.rcracinginnovations.com/...der_Bar__.html

To mount it to the rear of the gearbox I got a 3D printed mount from Shapeways....

Was a bit annoyed, a updated version became available the day mine was shipped....

Exotek Titanium front axles

Jconcepts Titanium stand offs and a Power HD R12 servo

https://www.redrc.net/2017/12/power-...digital-servo/

I rebuild the buggy shocks with Kashima coated bodies and went 50/70 oils and filled the gear Diff with 200k

The motor is Vampire Racing Type AB+ v2 4.5, I’m not sure if these were available outside of Europe, they are well known to be very powerful motor here in England

And I’m starting the gearing at 21/81

Fitted the wing and few more decals the the body

RX is on the way it’s a Futaba R304SB to team up with my 4PM TX, I still need to save up for the ESC and battery now, think I’ll be going for a Sky RC Toro TS160 ESC and a IP 6000mah 120c Shorty lipo

The Jconcepts rear drag tower has turned up, this has helped loads to set the rear Buggy shocks at the correct height

NICE! Looking good!
I've wondering how many drag build would go to mid-motor. Everyone says rear motor has better traction... but then runs wheelie bars and front-end weights.

I really want to do a sc6.1 build of some type. Probably not drag strictly... either a street car or just general good around truck. Its time to phase out my ol' stadium truck basher.

I've got a ton of time dialing in my 6.1 based build. I used the 3-gear stand up trans to give it more rear weight bias. I think i may go back to the 3-gear layback to shift some weight forward. On regular asphalt (like infront of your house) it will ride the wheelie bar the entire pass if you wanted. Sealed asphalt or newer asphalt its a matter of shifting weight around. Ive been using 7g adhesive tire weights, just bought some brass battery plates also.

I was taking the no prep thing literal and wasn't doing anything as far as burn outs..etc. Get a piece of carpet or an old door mat to do a burnout on. Mostly to clean the tires off but also to get some heat in them. My launch was mediocre but the top end was great... carpet burnouts helped a bunch.

Don't sweat the other wheelie bar mount. I have all 3 versions. The original one lasted a few times catching air, what did it in was sliding into a curb at 30mph in reverse lol. Both plastic ones have a little bit of flex. The metal one is very sturdy, but downside is if you hit a curb hard it will probably break the transmission case and possibly bend the chassis plate. I run in a large open lot now, but for narrower areas might go back to the plastic.

Did most of my testing with a 6t motor to get the chassis dialed in. Best pass was 51mph on a sealed asphalt lot. I switched to a 5t and have been tweaking since putting the JC rear shock tower back on.

Sweet! This is the route I'd take if I were going to build a drag car.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, fingers crossed the wheelie bar isn’t far away now and once it’s arrived I’ll, get a esc and shorty lipo ordered up
