New to RC and new to crawling...

Anybody in Charlotte / Huntersville area get together for crawling? I have no idea what an rc group get together entails and what events are like, let alone racing etc. Is it organized? Just a get together to hang out and drive around? Racing? Is a certain skill level required? 2.2 or 1.9 welcome? Do kids come? (I have a 5 year old that is into it). Any recommended spots?

Seems like the Charlotte area club might be on hiatus.

Im in Greensboro and got a few guys that get together at least once a month or more. Currently two of us are building courses in our yards. Mine in Greensboro and his east and north of here about hour and half away. We were just having casual trail crawls up at pilot mtn. But that's been shut down by park rangers. But we do casual get togethers and some competitions. My 4 year old is into it as well. Just got her first rig. I've been 2.2 but just bought a 1.9 also. Most of the guys around here are 1.9. Also JDinthJDintheTJ has built a course in Winston area.

Check out the SC section. We usually have gtg,and have comps once a month. For you most of our comps are about 1 to 1 1/2 hours away from you. Really good group of people. I think there are a few guys in the charlotte area.

Yeah there was a comp in Forest City today, about an hour west of Charlotte. And another one in Glendale Shoals, SC in 2 weeks. I think the sc one has sign ups on here somewhere. I know I signed up for it, I'll look for where.
