Thanks fellas. The rust effect is surprisingly easy to do. Prime with red, sprinkle some fine powder all over it (I used garlic powder) Mix up some rust color snd spray all over it. Randomly splodge with marmite or bovril, especially the places you want thick rust. Then spray over the top with gray and let it dry well. Now get scrubbing with a stiff brush to remove the marmite / Bovril. It'll then be all patchy. At this point you can do all kinds of effects. some of the heavier rust spots can be dabbed in with black and quickly paint over with primer, rub back and it'll look rusty. Use different shades of rust color, generally lighter at the edge. Use wire wool to give the shell a matt finish... That's basically it. RCKcrawler. It's going on an AX10, I need some scale wheels, not sure what type would match or where to get any. |

I love the wooden rollcage/load holder. As for the paint, wicked leave it as is, my only suggestion would be some faded lettering on the doors...... like Neeleys Auto Repairs or something like that and maybe something on the gas cans just to seperate them from the flow of the body.

Awesome work! I think some Landies Classic wheels would look good on it: (add your artistic worn look to them though) |

WOW looks great. The only thing I might add would be a few bullit holes; not from the outside but coming from the inside!! I had an old Ford that had some holes coming from inside the cab. One went out of the curve in the side of the roof and looked like it had been torn open with a can opener. An idea on how to posibly to do this would be to heat up a bent open paperclip and push through the lexan. should give you a dimple look and just about the right size hole.

Thanks for the kind words and great ideas fellas. The Jeepers Creepers comment made me laugh, I'm thinking of writing it on the doors, but only if I stay with the current wheels. It'll look like a show truck rather than very scale...Not sure yet. More blood and guts is required though, want something nasty in the pot. May be a head. Those Landrover wheels are definitely on the wanted list too. This is fun... Some more pics.... Last edited by Neeley; 01-15-2009 at 07:09 AM. |
