| Testors decal
I saw in a Tower Hobbies catolog that the Testors company has a decal maker that uses your computer and their software. Has anyone seen these or used these? I believe that they are water based decals which means that they'll scratch off easy. Just wondering. Hank

I have seen these used by friends on their model train stuff. The prints (assuming ink-jet printers) must be sealed with something like Testors Dullcote before applying, and then can be (should be) further affixed with some sort of decal setting solution. They are reasonably tough once done - tough for handling. YMMV with scraping on rocks. One thought occurs though (and since I am a noobie, I don't really know)... Is it common practice to paint the inside of clear body shells? If so, the decal could be applied from the inside before painting to prevent damage. Andrew |

Thanks for the info. Yes it is common practice to paint the inside of the body shell as this protects the paint. It makes sense that it would protect the decal as well. Hank
