Default Proper paint selection

Gentlemen, looking for some advice on selecting the proper paint. I plan on painting the axles and wheels of a venom creeper. Has anyone had good luck with a particular type of paint? Is there a type of paint I should avoid? The axles and wheels seem to be made of different plastics. Prime or not to prime.
