| Forest service green
I could use a little help. I want to paint a lexan body "forest service" green. I am not finding anything very close. Has anyone found a color that would be suitable, or has anyone mixed their own out of stock colors? Any tips or leads is much appreciated. |

I used a Tamiya xf-67 which is a nato green for a military build that I think resembles a forest green. Sprayed it with my airbrush and its an acrilic so cleanup is a breeze

Thanks for the info. I spent some time looking at the tamiya color chart. There are lots of colors my LHS doesn't carry" may have to order the right color.

Well it definitely isn't PS22. too dark. I guess I will track down the PS 54. It looked too blue in the pictures I saw but maybe not.

I googled forest service trucks and one of the trucks that came up was a light green close to PACTRA 50'S AQUA like this, its a little darker in person if you could find this in a bottle you could get a darker green also and mix your own pretty easy . Oh it waas not a lexan paint but scuff your lexan and use a adhesion promoter like Bulldog and you shouldnt have any issues , the Dingo in the pic is painted with it using these products |

I think the tamiya TS52 is the closest according to the color chart, but I have a feeling it will turn out much lighter than it shows up on their color chart.

backing color may change how it looks too, like that dingo does not appear to have any backing (look through the wheel well. may darken up with a black backing.

Thanks for all the ideas. I agree, backing it could change the tint quite a bit.

Well back to the drawing board. PS-54 matches the turquoise color of my 67 bronco, but does not portray forest service green. darn it

try posting a pic of the forest service color your looking for . I have seen about 4 different greens associated with the forest service. You could also try contacting a local Forest service shop and seeing if you could get the paint code , take that to your local auto body supply and have it made , some will even put it in a spray can for you . It depends on how you prep it . Think about the custom painted bug deflectors , they are lexan just thicker , I have used auto paint on a couple of bodies . wash the body , dry it,scuff the body with a scotch brite pad either red or grey , wash it again , dry it spray it with Bulldog adhesion promoter 2 coats with a 5 to 10 minute dry time between coats then do light coats of color should be ok . Oh always do a test on a scrap piece of lexan !!!!!! there are some cheaper lexans out there that dont like the reducers in auto paint . |

the key for a automotive style paint I think would be to sand the surface you are painting. if you are doing a inside paint, it might dull the shine a bit, but not enough to worry about. give it something to stick to rather than just laying it down on a slick surface.
