| Question about customizing polycarbonate body
I want to make a body of a 2nd gen dodge ram quad cab long bed. Parma sells .03" polycarbonate bodies, but only a quad cab short bed or single cab long bed. My question is, is it possible to cut and switch truck beds to get what I want? Or is .03" poly not very easy to cut and rebuild?

I cut down a 55 Chevy sedan pro mod body. you will have to do a exterior paint job and I backed the seam with scrap I cut out. body fill, sand and prime. the other option, this is a bed so there can be a gap between the bed and cab and it fact it would add some realism.

Painting on the outside looks much more scale as well. Give it a shot.

If I paint the outside, should I also add some kind of clear coat finish to prevent chipping? Or what would you recommend?

Even with clearcoat the first rollover or rub against a narrow rock alley will pretty much fubar any decent paintjob you had anyway.

But if you paint the inside silver or copper it will look nice when scraped.

Truck is going white. Just like my Cummins in theses pictures. KR15nAK's Library | Photobucket It's going to be a while until I can get the bodies so I'll have plenty I time to think about it. Thanks for the feedback guys. Last edited by KR15; 04-02-2013 at 11:14 PM. |

paint the Inside of the body white and the outside so it doesn't show too much where the paint scratched and as the others said, buy both bodies and make a separate cab and bed from both and mount them on the truck. it'll take a little longer to remove the whole body, but very much Worth it IMO.
