Default Remove paint from aluminum

I picked up a used wraith which has aluminum panels that are painted. What's are some ways to remove the paint to restore the aluminum, besides sanding. Thanks

You want raw aluminum?

Try some paint thinner...maybe acetone. I wonder why you don't sand it though. If you're going to re-paint...why bother ?

Thanks. Not going going to paint it. I don't see the point in painting aluminum when you could paint lexan and it would look the same but cost less.

I live close to Slaughter Ln, but the name comes from Sgt Slaughter back in the WWF days, which I was using before I moved to Austin. You are not the first to ask though.

Go Wings!

Wings are my second choice Slaughter....actually hope to see them make the playoffs....GO SHARKS...

sorry...not sure either paint thinner or acetone won't leave a tint on the aluminum. My bet is it will...sand it if you want clean aluminum

I got it worked out. I was in the process of stripping a table and notice the stripper I was using said it was for metals as well, so I threw it on there and paint came off it 30 seconds.

I used some lye from a local hardware to strip down some purple anodized aluminum parts off of my HPI Savage.

I use Easy Off yellow can and it works fine...good for removing anodized aluminum too...just don't let it soak too long!! After that you can use Blue Magic to polish it up if you choose.
