You can use the old trick of putting some paint on the tip of the body post then set the body down on the truck. When you pull it back off you'll have little dabs of paint on the underside of the body showing you where to drill.

Quite a few. It had a little trouble making it thru 3 layers of pactra Aztec gold and the black backing but that's awful thick chunky paint.

i had to drill holes through a body that had like 4-5 good coats of green so i put some masking tape on the inside of the body and used model paint and painted squares on the tape and lined it up and pushed down hard on the posts and worn the paint off the paint. you should have dots on where to drill holes.

paint on the post works great but gotta carefully put the body on the post so it doesnt slide around

You can always do that, then measure the spots to make sure they are even. When I mount a body that's still clear, I set it on the posts and get it where I like it, then mark the center of the post on the outside with a sharpie. After that, I put a piece of masking tape down the center and across where my marks are and I measure to make sure they are centered.

This looks like it might do the trick for what you are needing. Not a bad price either Dynamite EZ Body Post Marker Set The first body I ever painted I forgot to ream out the body posts and was looking around for a solution and found this. Instead of waiting and ordering this I just winged it and it came out ok but I think this would have worked better. I used some of my wife's old lipstick on the tip of the body post and marked the body that way. It sounds crazy but it worked, it took a few tries but it wipes off easy so you can try again if you need too. By the way this is the same trick i use to mark door jambs when drilling out for a dead bolt, works every time. |

I was going ot suggest putting a super bright light (spotlight) on the body and you will see where the posts are. Especially if you can get the light under the shell. I've done this a few times. Those crazy lights for the post are pretty cool. Just make sure to buy a high quality reamer. Don't drill. Ever. even a cheap arse reamer is 1000 times better than drilling. |

You can get the body mount foams and put them on the post and align the body and then pros down to get the sticky tape to stick
