| Hand paiinting the interior 73' bronco CGR
Ok so I am going to try painting the interior for some scale effect. My question can I use testors model paint since it wont be getting beat on? yes it will be exposed at the same time it'll be protected by the cage. But will the old school testors model paint stick to the lexan body? If I use a top coat of clear will it stay put? I really do not like the sound of spraying the paint into a lid/cup and then using that to paint. There has to be a better way. now I' in the right section! |

first, i assume you want to paint the out side rather than the inside of the body. the short answer is yes, it will work. just prep the body properly, rough it with a very fine sand paper, clean, dry and paint. BUT. you can get lexan paint in bottles, though using lexan paint on an exterior application will result in a dull finish. you can detail from the inside, just paint in reverse order. what would be a final layer normally would now be your first layer and so on. |

Yes my plan is to paint the out side of the body. Thanks for the short answer. I am not wanting to get crazy you know things like seats , steering wheel and a pin stripe to clean up a 2tone stripe. just some little things to make everything pop, for that WOW factor. That being said, this is my first attempt at this on lexan but I've built many, many AMC, Revell models I was just unsure if the paint would do me justice and stay in place?

If anybody has any photos after trying the same task please post them up. I am looking but not finding much, maybe I'm using the wrong search?

Sprayed the interior from the outside for the base color using lexan paint spray, then used Testors for the details. Best pics I have. Didn't give me any trouble. |

I'm not sure which way is right to be honest, but have 2 and both fit ok. Cool bodies, too bad they were discontinued.

well I took my time and my cage fits perfectly. the interior did not turn out like I was hoping for but at least its not one solid color anymore. Now I am having a small issue of the wheels rubbing at the outer corner of the well most when compressed. I am trying to figure out hoe to post photos.

your will have to trim the fenders or limit the travel. those tires are larger than the openings and wider than the body. paint looks great! |
