Default De-chroming trim parts

So I've gone back about 12 pages in this section and even did a search but I hadn't been able to come across anyone who's had any experience de-chroming plastic trim. I've heard you can use brake cleaner which I'll try first, but I wanted to be sure it wont erode the part as well as removing the chrome. Anyone have any ideas or methods on how to do this? Thanks in advance.

Easy off oven cleaner works great and doesn't damage the plastic. That's how I did the grill and headlight buckets on my tundra body

Awesome, may try that next time gearhead, so far this oven cleaner is some bad a$$ stuff. Certainly don't have to worry about the chrome any more, I'm just a tad worried as it's made the plastic a bit soft but I'm just going to wipe the chrome off, wash it down to naturalize it and let it sit.

good old fashion bleach , works great .I did a Parma hemi years ago and wanted the valve covers painted , put them in a glass jar overnight in Clorox bleach , next morning no chrome , no residue in the jar ,no damage to the plastic

yellow top easy off oven cleaner in a freezer bag. you gotta make sure the stuff wont evaporate and spray enough in the bag so it covers all the parts. then you just move the parts around the soup every once in awhile.

can you still find the CASTROL super clean?

its been years since i saw it on the shelfs. theres a non castrol super clean in a purple jug, but it aint the same stuff. castrol super clean would take the skin off your hands… it was awesome stuff.

I've been stripping chrome for many years with the yellow top Easy-off oven cleaner. Works fast. Once the chrome is gone, give the part a good soapy bath and you're good to go.

I bet there's hundreds of people that have used that in the kitchen without reading the label, and strip the chrome from plastic chrome plated appliances. lol

"LA Awsome" works great as a chrome stripper. I use it alot to strip paint and chrome in model car building. I find it at the local dollar store.
