Default Color recommendations for my scx jeep.

I just ordered a scx10 jeep kit and really like the silver but don't like how common it is. Any recommendations for a color? I was leaning towards a metallic lime green or possibly a plum crazy purple if I could find something close to it.

Here is one I used on my Wraith. Tamiya Kryptonite green, changes color with different angles. A couple light coats and then black backer paint to get the color to come through:

i wanted the blue to be a little darker so i backed it with black. But it also looks good backed in silver. Its hard to pick a color. I already want to chang it but dont want to pay for a new body right now. And the next one wont have body pins. this is my first scale truck.

Khoun Is that blue mica? I like that color a lot, looks really good, I'm leaning towards that. Did you cut out the headlights or leave the lexan their to act like a lense? Also what color did you use for the buckets? Honestly your truck is pretty much exactly what I'm going for I appreciate you posting up the pics! I'm not good at visualizing these things in my head.

the colors are pactro metallic blue RC265 and Indy silver RC262 for the buckets. and yes i left the lexan there to make it look like a lense. and when you cut the holes in the light buckets for the led use a drill bit not a body reamer. I am new to this scale thing so i made a few mistakes but im happy with it so far.

How about both colors. That would look good with some black too..

When you say your 'backing' it with black what exactly do you mean?

That means the last coat of paint will be black to "back" all the colors that you've applied ahead it.

Sometimes people use black, silver or white depending on what the earlier colors are.

So if I were to paint it red, would using black last them cover the red and make it black?

Since you paint lexan from the inside of the body. You first paint the body you want the truck to be then you put a backer paint on there. This can change the color a little bit the black backer i did in the jeep made the blue a little darker and the silver i did on the buggy didn't change much since the paint was thicker when i put the backer on. But it also helps out with scratches on the paint if something rubs against the body like wiring or a battery

What I usually do is back colors in silver or white and then, back it all in black.Doing the mid coat first helps to keep the black from bleeding through.
