I don't see any easy way really, maybe a sharpie. You could paint the outside of the body. Sent from my Phoneamathingy Last edited by ToyotaKing88; 04-25-2014 at 03:27 PM. |

I personally feel this is an opportunity to make a just okay paint scheme, a GREAT paint scheme. IMO, I would have painted the fenders flat black anyway. I just like the contrast.....and then, I'd do the hood in flat black to match. All this gets done from the outside of the body AND from my experience, it holds up really well! |

Same paint that you use on the inside. When used on the outside it wont have much of a shine, more of a matte finish instead

^^ X2 If you use lexan paint it will be simi gloss and will bond to the body and won't flake off like regular spray paint will |

tape it off and spray it with bedliner. its textured and hi build so it will give the appearance of a flare

Tape it off the way you want it painted ( the flares) and paint them with lexan paint. Then paint over the top of that with a flat black paint . It will look killer. All this will be painted on the outside. The lexan paint will make whatever you use on top of it stick.

I would tape it off and use plasti-dip so they look realistic. This is what I plan to do on an '07 Silverado body but the entire fender shape, following the contours. I just discovered plasti-dip. Really cool product it seems so far. I like it so much I am going to paint the wheels on my car with it! I expected a disaster from the title, but this is no problem at all!

True, true. My experience if using anything but PS paints on Lexan.....you should use a thin PS coat for primer and then use anything you want. Plasti-Dip, Bedliner OR any other color to achieve the flat look. Best of luck!!!! |

I would stay away from using the spray on Plasti Dip. It will peal off easy. You can also use any of the spray paints that are made for plastic stuff at Home Depot or Lowe's.

The best thing to do is tape it off, scuff the plastic that is to be painted with a sanding block or somewhere around a 150-ish grit, then use almost any kind of spray paint. There is a fine textured black paint that will look great on there with the hood. Just apply in very lite coats. Basically just over spray it, let it sit overnight and then repeat. If you try to cover all in one coat or skip the scuffing process it will flake off. I've done a few this way and it always worked great for me. I learned the hardway about the flaking bit on my SCT body.

I will I promise. I'm traveling now though and won't have a chance for a couple weeks to get back onto this project. If I get any time this weekend. I'm gonna DRIVE it! I think I'll likely just mask it off and paint with lexan paint this time. I'm not a hundred percent sure the red is the right red. I have some mayhem wheels that I'm having my buddy powder coat and redo. So I need to see how that comes out. Also have the red and black seat from the rc4wd coming. Ultimately I want it all to look RIGHT. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |
