Default Trail Ready Wheels

Has anyone painted these trail ready wheels?

I was thinking about painting them "chrome". Yes in quotations because it's obviously not going to be a nice chrome finish, rather a bright silver. I just wondered how it would turn out.

Just make sure to clean and prep everything really well and spray many light coats. Lay down too much paint at once and it'll chip easier. An adhesion promoter will help the paint stick better too.

I know there is a bit of a cost difference but once you factor in prep time, paint time/cost, selling what you have and the biggest factor ... durability ...

Another option would be to pick up a nice set of our aluminum 2.2" Trail wheels that will take a lot more punishment.

You can fully configure them (with rings of your choice) here:
2.2'' SLW (set of 4) Complete Packages

If you do decide to paint the plastic ones, make sure you get a paint that will stay flexible so they won't crack/chip as fast.

I have and will never do it again. I was bored and though it was fun and i liked the way they turned out (Mimic VP Method Colors) by the time i was done i could have bought 2 rigs worth of LURC wheels. LURC has been awesome to me in the past and will send them my $$ when i am done with my custom scaler.

I did these with a Silver and Gold sharpie and took 5min per wheel. I personally would go this route before paint but ultimately end up with in order of choice LURC, VP or Mayhems.

I went ahead and painted them with "chrome" paint. It turned out well enough for my liking. For now anyways. I'm sure in the future I'll be buying a nicer set of rims.

I recently purchased a used set of TR's
that the PO had painted the centers silver.

Looked like crap IMO.

So I soaked the outer rims in some acetone for a few minutes...
scrubbed the paint off... and now they're black again.

Gonna leave 'dem like that.
