Backing color for metallic blue?

Thinking black but never painted a body before so don't know what's a good backing for what color.

Generally, black will make the blue appear darker, white will make it brighter. It just depends on what tone you want.

If you want a brighter shade of blue but a dark interior, back with white or silver and then black.

This. The metallic blue is going to have a transparent look to it, and using a metallic silver behind it makes it more metallic-y.

Ditto, though some times we have left out the black, mostly on high speed apps like 1:8 nitro cars.
So fast we left it to my friends nephew to drive those, after all hes a lifetime younger than us.
