| Magnetic body mounts that actually work!?!
Hey all, here's my latest creation. I just painted up a new blazer body for my last project and would have cried if I had to drill through the body and see clips. The guys in our group that run magnets to hold their bodies down seem to have their body go flying like plastic bags in the wind so the cheap drift car posts were out of the question. So I designed these... They slot into each other so if you hit a rock from the side they won't slide off and if even if the body lifts a little the magnets will snap back into place after the impact. They simply slide over a standard scx10 body post too. I'm working on a redesign because they are a bit bulky but they do their job well. I'm pretty tough on my truck and have never lost the body. I know this may not appeal to everyone but I thought I would share my progress! I recently learned how to use fusion360 from my physics teacher in highschool and I can say it is very beginner friendly so don't be intimidated! Let me know what you guys think. nice, I designed something similar but for use with a larger magnet with a countersunk hole in the middle to be able to mount it. works great. |

Try a trick to make everything easier Ring Magnets! They self center and are easier to mount. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-2-x-1-4-x...72.m2749.l2648 |

What mike said. They work really well. I kind of stole his idea because I started my build Around the same time he did. Only difference is I got mine from k and j magnetics in stronger n52 form. And the video he linked helped me as well. It did take me a couple of tries to get a good bond. First time trying it, I’m a trial and error kind of builder. Funny thing is the it says he got the magnets at a hobby shop in buffalo,ny which is where I live.

I picked up a set of these from Asia Tees. They work great. The recessed magnets don't shear off to the side and you get electrical connectors for lights to boot. Now to wire up the lights. The back magnets are like the video above. |

I’ve had some good luck.., I think the more you try the better you get. Needs to be the neo... whatever they are called rare earth magnets.. I generally use shoe goo.. Sand down area first if not the mountable kind. If possible stack a couple .., usually I’m trying to keep body as low as possible; so if I can’t double up, I’ll try to add some really small ones under main one ( chassis side.). Than I’ll put a thick paper buffer between magnets (easier to take apart after first bonding) and glue body to magnet (so it’s perfectly lined up). Than add addition glue later to make a stronger bond... .., should be able to pick rig up by body Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
