Default Proline 2020 Ram Rebel on TRX4

Hey RC fam, I’ve seen this done once before but wanted to share for those looking for more body options.

This is a 2020 Dodge Ram Rebel body that’s meant for the e-revo, but the dimensions are easily workable for a scale truck too. Here it’s mounted on a trx4 chassis on my trx10.2

No paint on it yet, but the overall length and width are great. 12.65” wb. Only ran into two hang ups, one I wish I could have mounted the body just a tiny hair more forward, but the front body posts are as far back as they can go without getting into the windshield. Nothing a little trimming can’t fix. Second was I needed to dremel the front body mount as the extra material at the base of the body posts will prevent the body front sitting down on it, because do the shape of the hood where the posts mount.

The body came pre-cut but not the best cut. Had to do some clean up there but it did save a lot of time. Also switched to a class 1 tire so I can keep as much wheel well as possible. Otherwise it was very straightforward just like any other lexan body.

Looks good. Could you have used magnets somehow to mount the body farther forward. Maybe make some sort of offset mount? Not a huge fan of Dodges (past owner of one ) but, nice to see there are some other options out there.

Offset posts and magnets are both great ideas. I think the offset post would have been the best bet as I could have moved the holes out closer towards the front than the windshield and been able to move the whole body a smidge forward. However, I’m not sure about offset posts that fit the traxxas body mounts?

Magnets may be tougher because of the way the way the lexan bends at the edge of the hood but still possible. Solid ideas

Nice find, always great to hear when non-crawler body options can be made to work on a particular rig!

Should be very durable, too - since the Lexan is usually thicker for things like the E-Revo...

Lookin good Topher and as others said, always cool to have more body options. Another mounting config you could use would be aluminum angle stock. Cut to the length of the sliders and mount with the outside end pointed up. Then use adhesive velcro on the body and those brackets. Would allow for some good, subtle fore/aft adjustment too.

Good point! I didn’t realize it would be thicker but it does feel that way. Thanks Durok!

Another great idea that never crossed my mind. Have you used Velcro before with success in staying put?

Oh, I was wondering where those Rebel bodies were coming from. I did not realize they were for a Revo.

I have indeed. Plus, in that area and using the angle stock, you can utilize a good amount of it to really provide good hold.

Aside from the rounded off front bumper, I think it looks better than the Ram for the crawlers!

The crawler version has the same issue with the front mounts - they are right in front of the window. Must be the profile of Rams in general.

I'm watching this closely as I briefly had a Ram 1500 about a year or so ago. I really liked having it, but just couldn't fit down the trails here in Colorado without scraping EVERYTHING on each side so I had to downsize. I've had a few Proline Ram crawler bodies in the past, but really would prefer something with a quad or crew cab. I can't wait to see yours painted up.

Thanks for the replies fellas! Walsh I’m going to have to give that method a shot sometime. I like it.

I’m hoping to get some paint on it today as it’s supposed to rain the next 3 days and then I’ll be out of town, but running out of day light now.

Here are a couple more revo bodies that could be relatively easily fitted for a crawler. There are others that look good but are in the 13” wb range.

72 C10 Long Bed - 12.6” wb

That F250 Super Cab is giving me some cool ideas. Like I really need another project though.

Can’t wait to see what you do with the paint on this one Topher!

Those wheels and tires look perfect on a late model pickup. Nice choice.

I'm a Dodge/RAM fan, but not the late model body, but that turned out nice.
