Default Polish for lexan?

Hey guys I bought a GEN8 for my wife and after test driving it I decided to get another for myself. Now we have a blue and orange his and her version. I did the nitro fuel paint removal to clear the windows and it worked awesome on the blue body but on the orange body it left the windows very cloudy. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to polish them but nothing is working. What do you guys use to polish lexan to make it clear?

Default Polish for lexan?

Only polish I use is Novus .

Depending on severity #2 is my go to and #3 is really abrasive. If #2 doesn’t work go to #3 and finish with #2.

I’ve used it for years to polish motorcycle face and wind shields. Also great for styrene body’s rubbing out.

Well the novus 2 did not touch it. I am going to try 3 and see if that will bite in better, then go back to 2. Funny on the back of my bottle it says not for polycarbonate, which is what lexan is.

The thing with cloudy lexan is its not just on the surface which is why polishing isnt likely to clear it up.

Next time pick up Tamiya's polycarbonate body cleaner if you want to play it safe.

Totally. Older, or dried out will allow gunk into it , if it’s penetrated into the surface, nothing will solve that

I do have some of that on the way. I just thought since the nitro fuel did such a nice job on the blue body, why would it not do the same on the orange body. I think the orange paint bonded stronger to the lexan than he blue.

Kind of an old-school solution, have you tried pledge floor gloss?
It’s more like an acrylic clear coat instead of a polish like the novus products. It used to be sold as future floor wax. If the fog on the clear portion turns clear when it’s wet, it will work. I use it in a cheapie air brush and go kind of thick to fill in scratches and light marks on lexan.
You can also use it as a barrier coat if you do pastel weathering and rusting. The floor polish can be cleaned off with ammonia based glass cleaner. It’s an old military model/train trick.

Works quite well, and windex/ammonia for thinning and cleanup.
