Default Backer for a backer?

I have a Capra that I've already laid down a translucent orange. I've shot one layer of Duratrax Silver Streak (with the tiny metallic particle) and it EXPLODES with color - especially in the sun! L-O-V-E I-T!!!!

I plan to put down another layer of silver so two solid layers of silver for backing.

Question is do I need to back the silver only because I'm wondering if over time the tiny metallic flakes will come off? My anal retentive engineering mind wants to know if I need to seal the flakes? (My guess is probably not since the flakes are binded to the paint.)

If yes, would white work?

You could back with white, although I'm uncertain whether, or not, or would make the color "pop" any more than it already does. However, for durability (at least on the hood & roof), for the final 'layer', to is spray a couple of light coats, followed by one medium coat, of "truck bed liner", as that will seriously protect ALL layers of paint. If also provides a huge boost in durability.

I always use a backer paint. The backers seem a bit stronger and more chip resistant than just white paint. I canít say Iíve ever had starring or chipping when using a backer. Iíve always use duratrax
