Lexan sheets

Has anyone made windows or headlight lenses by cutting and heating lexan sheets. I know you can vacuum form but I don't have one.

Back in the day folks would use cut up plastic coke bottles, heat with heat guns, and draw them over wood plugs to make RC airplane canopies.

I was thinking about giving that a try for some headlight lenses. Would be a cheap alternative to having them professionally 3D printed.

All that flat clear plastic packaging that stuff comes in gets kept - mostly just the flat pieces of it, but sometimes there's an interesting shape that I keep too. For the most part, it's all polycarbonate, and has different thicknesses for different applications.

Mrs. OutLore thinks I'm crazy but there's a method to my madness/sadness.

Coke bottle petg has a way lower forming temp than polycarbonate/lexan in sheet form. I need do some headlights as well at some point as well. If I could only get a few free hours to monkey with it. I have both .040 petg and polycarbonate. I need to make a windshield and side windows too. Somewhere I have a heat gun, when I find it I'll be the "test dummy" and see what I can make happen.
