Default 2013 National's Course Building

Multiple Anytime Bonuses:
Each Bonus can be completed only ONCE, but can be attempted anytime before completing the course. Most of the courses will be this format. Very popular at 2013 ECC

Single Repeating Bonus:
A single bonus that can be repeated after every progress except for Finish Gate

Terrain will dictate if this course design will even be ran, and there won't be more than 1x course using this design. I saw this design first at 2012 Copper State Classic

Progress Bonus:
Every Gate has a "friend gate" that can also be cleared EXTRA progress points(-2). Maximum additional -20 points if the course is completed.
This design was made popular at past AWCC built by "Mr. G6" Parker. Again terrain will dictate if this course design is used.

Note: The picture shows the bonus progress after, but through trial and error we have discovered its better to put the bonus BEFORE...that way we can have 10 Bonus Progress, and when the driver dives trough the last REGULAR gate the course is over.

Drivers don't let these formats Mind F%&^$& you. The drivers main objective is still to finish courses. The goal for the builders for theses courses to still be able to be crawled, but if you get greedy and choose to go for bonus gates you don't have time to attempt and complete the course or drive faster than your capabilities...thats your fault..not the course.

Course Designers

Seriously considering using MULIPLE course designers to build one course each. Designers will likely be paired together into teams to further reduce the chance a conflict of interest. Designers will not know the area they will be given to create their masterpieces.

Example: Erik Dlux and Turbofest might be 1x building team, and Yoshi and Austin might be another.

A group of us built the Crawlapalooza Finals course a few years ago with that design , and it was fun to watch. Not sure if we were the first to build one that way but I had never seen it before.

I would be glad to help. Just don't team me up with that Joel guy, he's too nice.

Very cool Fish! I am always game to build a course, I enjoyed building the Vaterra course at ECC, and from what I gathered most of the drivers enjoyed the course as well.

I probably wouldn't team you with someone from your time zone

I think I switched sponsor names after you built it. Yours ended up being the T1e Course.

Yep, I have seen quite a few people get screwed because they took a risk. It's good to take risks, but they dont always work out so well...

Yes there were course signs....someone took them by accident. After the comp was over they returned them.....saying "Did you need these?"

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?

If you're in the room, it's not empty.

Your freaking me out man.

Safe to say I am in a different time zone and did manage to set a course Austin could not complete on a 2012 practice day. If I am in attendance I would like to help out.

Thanks for stepping up guys, but your scaring me a little. Anyone can build insanely hard courses where no one gets past a certain gate. At Nationals I want courses 40-60% of the drivers finish with a range of scores 30 to -30.

Whats the point of putting Bonus gates on the course if no one finishes the course? Rock Decorations?

IMO a really great course trips different drivers up in different places, and produces score though out the range.

At this years ECC the Super Shafty Course fell right into that sweet spot. The Event Champ (JPBoy) got a -8.
  1. -36
  2. -28
  3. -19
  4. -17
  5. -13
  6. -11
  7. -8
  8. -8
  9. -8
  10. -8
  11. -7
  12. -6
  13. -5
  14. -1
  15. 1
  16. 1
  17. 2
  18. 2
  19. 3
  20. 3
  21. 4
  22. 4
  23. 4
  24. 12
  25. 12
  26. 12
  27. 13
  28. 15
    DNF Cut Line
  29. 22
  30. 24
  31. 24
  32. 24
  33. 26
  34. 26
  35. 26
  36. 26
  37. 26
  38. 26
  39. 26
  40. 28
  41. 28
  42. 30
  43. 32
  44. 32

The Course was very nicely balanced in my opinion.

How am I scaring you?
I like to make courses "finish-able" if you drive smart. I'm not a fan of making a beginning gate impossible where no one gets to see or make a finish.

I am sure you will do a good job ....no matter who I team you with. Sounds like we are on the same page...I was just taking it a step further from "finish-able" or DOABLE to trying for a certain percentage of completion.
