Default RC18R question.

I might get a good deal on an rc18r niteline. Sweet lil 4wd rig. I'd like to make it rally-capable. I have a mini erevo that's shelved right now with no receiver. It's got the vxl brushless in it. I know I can shoehorn it in the rc18r, found a few aftermarket motor mounts, etc.... But would this be a good combo? It'd be, like I said, a mini rally rig. Too much power?

i think it would be to much for it and you would be breaking drive train parts to the point it would be no fun to run it... we have a guy in our club that has the 18t and runs this and loves it

An 18R isn't really capable of any offroad driving as it is very low to the ground and the short suspension travel makes for a rough riding car. The 18R is much better suited to on road driving and can be quite fast there with that motor setup. We drive them onroad here in Austin and they are very capable of giving some of their larger cousins a run for their money! Also, the cars are quite durable as long as you aren't slamming into walls at full speed.

Luckily they are ridiculously cheap to maintain an to swap parts to make it on/off road capable.

The hobbywing 1/18 brushless systems from hobbypartz.com are cheap and all the motor you will ever need. I ran on in my 18R for years.

I run this system in my Mini Late Model and have for around a year now without a single issue. I run the 5050kv though. Great system especially when the price absolutely can not be beat.

I run a Dynamite C4 9200kV through an RC18MT with a 2200mAh 2S LiPo on stock differentials. These AE RC18's will handle anything you throw at them.
