| Long damper mod
I just saw a few pics of the XV01 long damper kit. I'm just wondering if I can use them on my current XV01 Pro kit. If so, when will the parts be available on their own? |

Here are the LONG front and rear damper stays, they are out of stock or unavailable at the moment. I emailed them to see what's up! Tamiya America Item #4318002 | RC Rear Damper Stay: 84375 - Long Tamiya America Item #4318001 | RC Front Damper Stay: 84375 - Long Edit: Emailed Tamiya at 2:30 today 4/4/2014 replied the same day at 4:45, That's top notch. They said these were not in stock yet and not expected to arrive for at least 60 days. Last edited by WAFFLE; 04-04-2014 at 04:50 PM. |

My best bet if Tamiya is not releasing these dampers as an aftermarket package, to use those Front Big Bore TRF dampers for they´re the only aftermarket package that comes in pairs, all the other CVAs mini and buggy shocks comes in 4, two short fronts and two longer than needed or compatible* rears. (*AFAIK). But even then I still don´t know the exact damper shaft lenghts... EDIT: My mistake, the shafts are of identical lenght, the difference front/rear is that the front have one 3mm spacer in the dampers bodies. Last edited by stormridersp; 05-02-2014 at 09:13 AM.

If it helps, the shocks are Tamiya 50519, used on everything from touring cars to CC01 chassis (well, used to be until they started using the single piston/shaft design) - can be configured from 55mm up to 70mm using the spacers that come in the set. Does look like new springs though on the long travel spec kit. Cheap at usually under $15 a pair.

This is the XV-01 Long Damper with a DF03ra body, a silver can motor and a shorty LiPO. No servo, or any other electronics. There are also no pre-load spacers on the shocks. I haven't installed electronics yet, but I'm guessing that once I do, and with a full size LiPO, I'll need to add some pre-load spacers.

I've just received the damper kit from stellamodels. It is DF03-01/V2/LB Aluminum Oil Damper Set Ver.2 for Tamiya DF-03. I will be using only the short set (I've got two sets to get all 4 corners done) and so far it has worked well. I still need to source and order some super soft springs cause I've been using short XV-01 soft springs with lots of spacers to get the length right. I don't like that solution but till I get the appropriate springs it will be better than the original ones. Does anyone have any info on the height difference in original vs long damper stays? Might these allow fitment of longer buggy dampers? |

| Re: Long damper mod While I haven't taken any measurements, I can say that the long damper kit uses the Tamiya Mini CVA shocks with the long rod ends. No one has confirmed for me which shocks the standard XV01 comes with, but after looking at the manuals online, I believe it comes with the Tamiya Super Mini CVA shocks. These are the same shocks that come on the stock DF03ra. I'll have to measure the shocks when I get a chance to see their actual length. The springs that seem to fit this setup are buggy fronts.
