911 rally car?

I wanted a nice 60s or 70s body for my new xv01 like a rally 911 like below.



But the new tt02 porsche body looks like it would work whereas modt bodies of the 911 are too modern or the wrong scale. Could work well.

Looks like it would come out well. One thing to look for though - I was reading that some of those new bodies had wider rear ends that needed offset rims/wider tyres. That could stuff up your rally tyre choices......

Yeah, they require a wider rear but the TT02 chassis comes with some options including a longer axle and wider hub. Meaning it sets normal wheels out farther. I'm building one now and will share some pics in my TT-02 build thread later today. The TT02 has options for long/short wheelbase, low/tall ride height and normal/wide rear end. Plus, it has a chassis with no holes in the bottom and is made to fit LiPo.

I wonder if the longer axles, wider hexes will fit on the XV?

Depends on how picky you want to be. The picture if I'm not mistaken is from a good 10 years after the era of the RSR modeled by Tamiya, and also depicts a narrow body versus the RSR's turbo prototype widebody.

I'd totally be ready to believe the body as a 70s tarmac rally ride though...

Bugger, I hadn't thought about the width.

Yeah, I had realised that it was the flared turbo body, but not much old 911 around in 1:10. TBG I had scoured, but most were 1:12 bodies. I would prefer a 959 rally to be honest, but an older 911 would be nice. That one I must have missed though. Wheelbase is about 20mm off, but that may not be a drama. Maybe back to the search :(.

Might still try the new tamiya one regardless though ;) we'll see what is about when the budget allows.

Posting some 911 tarmac (and gravel) goodness for reference. Might even go a 911 GT3 like some in the video. Definitely still want to go Porsche for my 2nd body!
