Default WAFFLE's xv-01

Scored a Xv for a great price locally, was like new for $150 with some cheap electronics rtr, LOL! Installed a MMP, tekin 13.5, Jr 9100s, a futaba Rx 3s 50c lipo and put a pretty good beating on it stock, only issue I had was the stock spur and pinion shredded, and I popped off a link and lost a dog bone. (on the right)

After running it though its paces, I felt it needed better shocks, That was my main priority. Other than that It was a great and tough little car. I opted to just buy all the upgrades That I wanted for the car at once and do all the mods at the same time because this car is a pAin-in-tHe-aSs to work on to say the least. I hated the Phillips screws and the need to strip the car to get to everything.

Current setup:
Mamba max pro
Tekin 13.5 (12°) sensored
Jr 9100 speed
3s 50c 2200
Futaba 4pls
77/26
Tamiya rally blocks
Tamiya 18 spoke wheels 54340
Gmades xd 45 weight 2 hole pistons

Here's my list of upgrades:

Yeah racing Ti Hex screws
2x Tamiya carbon rear damper stays
62mm Gmade xd shocks
Front and rear Tamiya CVDs
Front and rear Tamiya alum. pulleys
Tamiya reinforced belt
Yeah racing knuckles and rear hubs
Tamiya anti sway bars/rod stoppers
Tamiya slipper clutch
Traxxas rod ends TRA1942
Tamiya carbon upgrades, battery tray/steering, suspension mounts, a-arms, spacers, rocker arms

My pictures didn't come out to great but the carbon upgrades are Much stronger and the best part is, lighter.
Carbon 29.4g

Stock 32.6g

Carbon 7.8g

Stock 8.7g

Carbon 5.6g

Stock 6.1g

The steering bearings were shot, put in some Traxxas bearings.

Weird slipper design

Rear carbon damper stays front and rear with gmade XDs with a little bit of work. Cant fit the Gmades with the spur cover so that had to go. Had to use spacers to get the shocks positioned right to clear the knuckles and cvds, ect.

The stock body fits with no issues, I obviously had to cut new holes with a rear damper stay in the front now and use a rear body post in the front as well.

Current body with tarmac tires:
Thunder tiger STi pre-painted
Hpi Pirellis s and d compound
Hpi wheels HPIC4286

on blocks:

Did the rear shock tower (dampener stay) bolt right up to the front? Also with those G-Made shock did you have to limit travel any for the front with your set-up......details please

Thanks

The rear shock tower bolts right up to the front without the spur cover on or you can file the cover or shock tower to fit them together. I have not limited travel, full 10mm front and rear. On the rear shocks I put a 3mm spacer(screwed a m3 nut on between the rod end) to lengthen them to 65mm eye to eye to get the ride height correct, the fronts are stock 62mm eye to eye. My current setup has approx. 3mm or so of sag.

Here some pictures of the spacers:

Got the rest of my parts to complete the anti sway setup

In the rear I had to shorten the two rod ends that hold the bar onto the a-arm to clear the upper links.

And the front

Drove this car over the weekend, mostly tarmac, I'm loving the handling with the sway bars. The sway bars really allow you to fine tune your shocks(run them softer with no effects on handling) to suck up all the bumps.

I was blown away by the cars handling stock, but with sway bars and good shocks its ridiculous.

They bolt on. On the front these shocks are a tight fit with the spur/pinion cover.

Two rear shock towers, two rear body posts, 8 spacers (in different lengths to clear the towers, hubs ect...) I had a bunch of spacers from axial kits that I used. Your going to need some longer hardware, and nuts in some places. I used a plain m3x3mm nut to lengthen the rear shocks to 65mm.

Everything's explained really well above too!
