Default Kyosho DRX VE SUBARU IMPREZA WRC

Hello all,

Just getting into this rally rc, and wanted some input on this RTR for starters, I know at the RCX show last weekend, Team Associated has released (or soon) their version of a 1/9th scale rally car. Also the HPI and others.

What do you have or compete with, and what do you like/dislike about it? Can be general or specific....

Thanks for your input.

Personally i love it, its the one car i have that i love to drive no matter what it handles like a dream, i also love the size of it and the detail/look of the body, it has a few down sides to it which you can get round but I've never owned a car yet that doesn't need some modding to something, the other one id recommend is the Tamiya xv-01 as it's a more popular scale more body options more hop ups etc, but i know when i wanna go out with a rally car i take the DRX i even have one set up for On road use now which is a blast in carparks although it eats tyres lol, here's my build thread for my DRX Rally so you can see some of the stuff i did to get over the minor issues with it KarlP's Kyosho DRX VE

Thanks for the input Karl, I like the parts interchange with the MP buggy, I'm sure it works well. How did the body mod with the reinforcement hold up over this last year? Was thinking of doing that right away...

Cool pictures, thanks for sharing.

I love my DRX VE Subaru! I wanted a little more speed, so I put the HPI Ken Block Flux motor in it, and it's a beast now, but still controlable.

My only issue with this particular model, is not much in the way of upgrades I would like to swap out some of the plastic parts for aluminum, but I can't seem to find any aluminum parts for it. I would like to put aluminum upper and lower a arms on it, but there are none to be found. I am now searching to see if Kyosho makes a vehicle that is compatible with it. I may just call them, because not much info on the Internet for this car.

I just spoke a rep at Kyosho. They have upgrades in their site. If you do a search for R246-3, stuff will come up. He also suggested looking under TRW for upgraded spurs and pinions.
