I am thinking of getting a new RC. I have a few cars, including an XV-01. Is the XV-01 the latest and greatest still for the rally style? Is there a way to make it have a little more clearance? I like kits but would take a RTR if there is something you guys suggest. |

I love my Kyosho DRX-VE. It's a 9th scale but I like it a lot, super tough, rtr, decent electronics, cheaper (relative)... Check it out... DRX VE SUBARU IMPREZA WRC 2008 |

The XV-01 is still a great car. The long damper version helps get that needed ground clearance. The DRX is a really fun car, and although Kyosho calls it 9th scale it is actually 7th scale. Both fun, but because the of the scale of the XV01 there are a lot more bodies available and its easier to find people to drive with in the same scale.

Is the long damper version a kit? Or do you get an XV-01 and add parts? If so, can someone point me to a list please?

I'm not sure if you can find the long damper kit anymore... It's easy to find the long damper towers on ebay. so I'd just grab the basic xv-01 kit and then add the long damper towers. Then you'd need longer shocks. The losi mini8 shocks work well, lots of guys also run the 75mm gmades. Then you've got a long damper xv-01. I have Turtle's old DRX and it's a badass car. For me, the xv-01 is a more user friendly car though. Some guys give the xv-01 crap for being difficult to work on. But I don't mind it at all. Like any other chassis, once you get used to it, it's normal. |

Just a heads up, there's an almost new XV-01 in the For Sale section fairly cheap. Thought about buying it myself but I don't really NEED another one right now.
