If I understand team judging ea person (if we have 50 competitors) only judges 5 drivers in a perfect scenario.

This is a great idea and has potential to bring the team format to a more organized level. 5 groups/ courses 8 guys per group (a modest 40 person turnout). Courses start at 9 and guys 1-2 are on till 11:00, guys 3-4 are on till 1, two more till 3, and the last two until 5.

If we setup teams ahead of time drivers could talk to their buddies and coordinate what time slot they should take with their team so they can still drive together.

If you have the 1:00-3:00 slot you can be somewhere else all day but you better have your ass on course at 1:00.

I still like the idea of rewarding the handful of guys that really step it up and show their dedication.

Is your English good? If so and you are comfortable judging, we would be stoked to have you help.

Looks like in 2.2P we are about there on volunteers to help judge. "thumbsup"

Thanks to all who have stepped up!

I have no idea at this point as to what way we are going but if we get enough volunteers to judge, I think its a no brainer.

Not being argumentive. Just brain storming here.

What's your target for the number of judges?

iMO the minimum number of judges for 6x courses is 12

If the event has less than 50 drivers morning/afternoon courses are possible, and the number could be 6 if ALL judges pull doubles. If a few guys like BCBrian only want work a split shift then you need a few more.

Last year we had "While you wait in line relief judges", so regular judges could take a piss or get off the course for a few minutes. It's amazing what a 10 minute break feels like"thumbsup"

Also it very important to take judging into consideration when building courses. Long Billygoat courses may be fun to build, but suck to judge. As a course builder I will do my best to build a course that will be fun and challenging to drive but won't kill a judge.

Not sure about you but im building the course that ill be judging.

Those who aren't building but judging, should assist the course builder to ask questions add input and put another eye on the course to dial back those killer impassible/non-takeable gates.

I suppose that really depends on what the judges are willing to do. Could be as little as 6.

I know I am willing to judge a course all day by myself, IF there is some sort of running order. In my experience judging, there is nothing more frustrating or tiring than judging a course and not have anybody run for most of the day. It turns judging into a HUGE job when people screw around and dont run.

IMO, judges should always be able to feel like they can take a break whenever they want. I know I bring snacks and drinks so I can take regular breaks. You would have to be a pretty big jerk to get mad at a judge for wanting 2-3min here and there.

For sure. Like Curcal said, this is why I am also building a course.

I really hope there are plans for a highly experienced, great course setter to walk and inspect each course before they are ran. This is one of, if not THE most important aspect to a great comp.

Re: 2015 Worlds JUDGES AND COURSE SETTERS

I went to worlds last year and the judging to me seemed really fair. I like the idea of having morning and afternoon courses that way you aren't stuck out there all day and having relief judges does in fact work as was done last year. You have 2 dedicated judges on course and temporary ones that will help fill-in when they are in line. The temporary ones take the score sheet and the dedicated judges make the calls that way it's consistent. To me it seemed to work great and everyone had a lot of fun with a great group of guys!

I for one am willing to help as builder (which you have lots) and a temporary judge. If you need me I can be a full judge but would prefer to be a temporary.

Re: 2015 Worlds JUDGES AND COURSE SETTERS

So i came across a really good idea that someone suggested. Judges run first before courses open to the rest of the field. You judge your course for the other judges running the judging teams (per course, personally decided doesnt matter) totat so there isnt a lenthy wait for each driver. Onces all judges have completed all the courses the rest of the field can line up to run course. This does back require start tome to back off a little bit, but drivers will be on course during that sloght "delay". And anyone judging doesnt have to drive tired or on a tore up course.

Sorry about typos... its early and im on my phone

Re: 2015 Worlds JUDGES AND COURSE SETTERS

Nice! 1 more person and we will have enough judges to run 2 judges per course on 6 courses!

I think 2 judges per course is going to be stupid easy with the predicted turn out.

I can also judge if needed. My only concern is how good judge I will be with 113 Farenheit and no shadows to cool of[emoji41] Any tips?
