9.70mm to be exact. Then round the ends on the pin to fit the gear slot 100%. Once you get in there and see it, you'll understand. And its your choice to do it or not, but dont come back here crying if it breaks. Lol. Better to do it now while your in there then later on, its added insurance.

Fellow bully noob here. One thing I just noticed was the nuts that hold the wheels on benefit from a washer. I noticed the nut was carving some meat off the center hole of the wheel, because it's too wide of a hole to begin with. Hope I made sense.

Haven't even taken my wheels off yet, but thanks for the heads up. My other rigs all have washers behind the axle nut. Do you plan on starting a build thread yourself? "thumbsup"

Hey guys on these stock shocks, are they ready to go or should I put oil in them. Also should I stick with the springs that are in them to start with?

Re: Cloudswimmer's Bully II Build

you generally dont need oil with internal (droop) springs.

But there super bouncy, try it and see if it helps. But only fill it half way. And ditch them ASAP! Lol

But I kinda like the way they look .. they look like the Rancho RS9000's on my 1:1 crawler (course guys have been telling me to ditch those ASAP too, for 20 years now :ror:)

How come we should ditch the stock suspension? They seem alright to me. Holds the weight up and travels smoothly. Not sure what other features a spring could have to benefit crawling slowly over rocks.

When I switched foams, the tires wouldn't stay planted, I was getting lift and rolling. The Big Bores I used gave me more travel and with proper springs really help avoid lift.... might just be poor tuning, but they work better for me

Because there bouncy and unpredictable. Once you get some better shocks, you'll realize there garbage. Being constant is key.

Then use a thicker oil and fill them properly.

You know anything about the RC4WD King shocks? I have a few pair of em laying around here I bought for a scaler project (90mm), but I have used them for mockup only and have no idea how they work, you think those would be better than the stock Bully II RTR shocks?

Yeah they look killer for sure. I also have their previous blue and silver shocks and those things definately suck eggs .. stiffer than raging hormones lol. Probably just gonna get the Dravtech's when the time comes and work with these white ones for now.
