Default The next one crawling out into the sunlight...

Hi everybody,
having waited a long time to get the kit and still not having finished it I have to share it before I get grey hair over this build. No build pics as there was nothing fancy about it. Just modded my DX3R to run on LiPo with a BEC. Not that it didn't work, but the light-switching modules in the car wouldn't work on the 3rd channel with voltage below 5.3V on the transmitter. Makes no sense, but that's how it was. WAS ! Now with a constant 6V...

The TF2 itself is built following to the manual. Just did some details and it came out really nice, though not perfect as I thought. Will still have to change the wheels for less track width and lower the car as it sits too high for my taste. Articulation is actually 3 inches. Enough of the words, here some teaser pics as there is no nice location nearby where to get some really cool shots of it. Will surely follow

Looks good! I hope to be sharing my pictures soon

**EDIT** I had to add to my first post!

So many fine details on your truck! It will be painful to put any scratches on such a nice paint job! The magnet mounting, how do you like it?

Nice job on the roll bar. The grill and black bumper are cool. You did a nice job.

@grumpster: the paint only looks good, the quality is, erm, well... But you're right, I will try to avoid scratches
The magnets are fine. I wanted to use 4 additional ones on the side where the body normally is bolted, but if fits fine already. Each magnets holds around 500g, so you can't lift the whole car with it but it's strong enough for my taste and the body is easily attachable and removable.

@blumaro: it's from rcmodelex.com, perfect fit and finish

@rockedup ricky: unfortunately I'm not that talented to build such roll bar on my own, see above

Today I build an extension for the front damper mount on the axle to lower it, and combined with new 90mm scale shocks and the red leafs I nearly found the height I'm looking for. A nice side effect is full articulation of around 3" also on the front. Pictures follow when I hopefully get a grip on some new wheels this weekend on a rc fair.

little update on the wheels, inspired by pardonmynoob . Now with longer shocks up front, red leafs up front, slightly lowered and with wheel offset -3 and -1 as well as moved axles the tires clear the body and articulation is nice. New steering linkage was necessary due to the wheels. No other mods so far, but finally some better pics before the first roll over I try to avoid, but who knows....

Pics in the dark will follow soon

Great pictures and a very nice looking TF-2! I saw the rollcages on RCModelex and fell in love with the "Beach" style cage...$119 is a bit expensive considering the way I drive though .

The wheels and tires make that rig. When I bought my -3 wheels I didn't see those tires for sale on the SDI site. Does he still sell them?

@TrailDawg362: now you got me thinking, haven't looked on rcmodelex some time. That rack is really nice, hmmmm Though it would need some scale items which I'm not sure of if I put them on a 1:1...on the other hand...we'll see

@pardonmynoob: regarding the website the tires are actually not available any more. Unfortunately those 1.9 wheels with 95mm tires don't give much room for lead. Thanks again for the hint to those wheels though, they really make it with the narrower offset...

@northernbill: thanks, the colour is the so-called "cappuccino" from Plastikote
