So sweet. I only just noticed the 'rust' around the windscreen, awesome touch.

Re: '83 Toyota 4x4 SR5

Well, did a few minor upgrades.

The biggest is a new higher torque servo from hitec. Nothing crazy, just an MG5645.

Also got around to adding the RC4wd lighting kit and Reign CB antenna. Lately I haven't felt a HUGE need for lighting but I figured, what the heck. I had been waffling on the antenna for a while, I just couldn't figure out what to make one from. Of course the day before it showed up I saw an old remote for a radio shack rc in the garage...bingo...then the reign one showed up and it was ready to go. Nice little unit but I will probably trim it down a bit.

One real issue is that when the lights are plugged in, the notoriously nasty BEC in the Castle ESC will cause the steering to glitch under high load. No Lights, no issue. Normally I'd solder up a capacitor and toss it on the RX but with the lights and shift servo, I have no port on the RX.

Digging the MT Claws...the X2SS compound is like glue, but I'm seriously considering some Proline TSL SX's on RC4wd 1.9 Steelies. I think they'd help me absolutely walk the line of performance and the look I'm after.

seriously liking that front bumper. Something like that could work for my Search and Rescue build.

RJ you nailed it. All you need now is the Toyota Aisin hubs

Thanks Nat!

They're just such fun trucks and even if you feel like you're over the whole hilux thing (I'm not) the platform has so much potential.

To make it "right " there are 2 options.

The first is to cut back the grill portion until it is flush with the front of the fenders and call it a Stage 1 v8. The second option is to cut the grill back much farther and make it into a Series IIa or Series III.

Very few folks know what a Stage 1 V8 rover is so you might have to keep explaining it :)

You could also do something like this using some angle aluminium or steel...just skip using the supplied brackets.
