Anyways, thanks for the pics. I did get mine worked out, just wondering long term strength now. I'll hopefully get to test it out this weekend since its gonna be nice. I tell ya, it's 65 and sunny one day and the next its 30. this morning it was 19 and won't reach 35 when it was 55 yesterday. Crazy weather. I tested my wrap bar on my few rocks I have in the basement for indoor practice and test n tune lol, and it works very well. So I got my fingers crossed. I don't get a lot of wrap on the rears though, some but not as bad as the front. I might have to try your design out. Have a few rustler links from a wrecked chassis I could prob use. Thanks for the input man! | |

Do people use the helper leaves on top of the main leave to fix this problem? as I've noticed a lot of trucks like this or is this set up still required?

I've only recently dove into a tf2, I dabbled here and there when I helped assemble this kit but just now gaining some knowledge on these rigs. For what it's worth I could honestly use the helper springs and it would almost eliminate my axle wrap for sure. But it's a slight sacrifice of articulation (so I've heard, I have not personally used the extra helper springs) and as for how much also unsure. I'd imagine it would do just fine on a simple trail rig. But I Rock crawl mostly and with the tf2's weight, it can axle wrap pretty good sometimes. |

Welp, bout to take advantage of the somewhat decent weather here and hit up some trails. Gonna be the first time I've had the tf2 out on some trails. I'm ready! With the help of lunatic and his pics of his rear anti wrap bar I whipped up a rear anti wrap bar too. Tested it out on my rocks here and it's a vast improvement over stock wobbly rear leafs. I'll be sure to take lots of pics, some video if I can and post up later this evening. |

Had a good crawl today, hiked quite a bit, ran 4 batteries. Trailfinder did absolutely amazing and those anti wrap bars made it even better. I siliconed the electronics in the tf2 and I would call it "water resistant" lol and it did just fine, no issues what so ever. Did have a knuckle and steering screw come loose on the c-10, easy trail fix. Here's some pics!

Update time! got a light kit and new leafs from rc4wd today. The leafs needed to be replaced and the helper soft springs added. I also covered the rear anti wrap bar in black vac tubing. The light kit is absolutely fantastic and is completely plug and play. No fuss, no control unit to hide. And an extension cord with connector to unhook for body removal. Snapped a few pics, here ya go! |

Made some changes to the tf2 today. Swapped some wheels to the tsl's. the 8 holes were getting worn. The new ones are metal and give it a slightly wider stance. It's a little more stable as well. I fab'd some corner "lenses" from a clear coat spray can lid that had been scuffed and trimmed and glued to the fender. Free and missing lens problem solved! While I was at it I fab'd up a "scale" exhaust system with a "muffler" too, also free! ;) I've painted the roof to repair some scratches, done in primer as well. Also made a skid plate for the front diff to protect it from sharp objects, mainly rocks. Cleaned up the rear rack and changed accessories around, including my home made c02 trail tank and the home made bungee cords too. Oh yea, the show string tow ropes with s-hooks too. Here's some pics! Hope you guys like it and all comments appreciated! |

Looking good mate I,m running pretty much the same wheel and tyre combo as you mate and noticed how much bag you had in the tyres, I,ve just put a set of Lil Nova 1.9 Dual stage 4.25 medium foams in mine and have noticed a HUGE improvement in performance all round |

Nice car and build. Great to see it evolving through the pages. I'm on my third TF2. I just can't get enough of them. I feel the same way about these maybe not being capable of the impossible but live to drive these over a more realistic obsticle. I have even now stopped running weighted wheels to loose that advantage. |

Thanks for the comments fellas! Lunatick, I had the worst time mounting those tsl's to these wheels... Idk why but it was a huge pain in the ass. I actually have to repair one that has a loose bead, and another has too little air inside causing it to have flat spots. Bill, I really enjoy these tf2's also. Just something about these things that amaze me, the fact that a lot of things will scale down to mimic real 1:1 actions such as gearing, overdrive/under drive an what not. I think I'll stick with my weighted wheels although they are lighter than before, only 2 ounces in each wheel. In addition I fab'd up a skid plate for the spur gear. On trail runs I'm always pulling leaves, twigs and crap out from under the chassis and I'm always in the back of my mind hoping that I don't get a twig or rock thrown up into the spur gear an ruining my day lol. So I came up with this. Used some thin cardboard to make a template and then transferred to some thin aluminum stock. Bent it to shape and scuffed with some scotchbrite. It mounts to an extra long steering servo screw on the servo mount with a locking nut holding it in place. The other half rests on the transmission and is very solid. No rattles and plenty of clearance. Here's some picture porn!!! Lol |

Thanks bud! by all means, feel free to use this idea! I mind not the least bit! Glad I can come up with something useful for other people to use. I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen some sort of idea like this done before, may have been I'm not sure. I thought it was a great idea though and very cheap and easy!

Great idea indeed. Let us know if it really does keeping debris away from the spur.... Or collecting it all in between.

I'll keep you guys posted on success rate... I plan on going on a good trail run with a fellow member local to ky on Saturday. He just got his first tf2 after many scx10s and he's pumped lol... I'm ready to get out on the trails too. I thought that it might be a catcher of debris rather than blocking it, but short runs have shown it to do pretty well against twigs and pine needles around my house and in my back yard course. If it does happen to catch a small rock I think it would have to be the size of a marble or smaller. to get up in between the spur and inside of the skid plate, there is only approx 3/8ths of an inch to get in from just one side. If it has a down fall I'd say it'll be that one perfectly sized rock to get in there. But for twigs and leaves, it's got them beat!! We shall see Saturday I guess. |

Well for the past two weekends it's done nothing but rain... I hate it, I sweat all day inside while its 85 during the week but soon as I'm free for the weekend it's raining... Can't a crawler catch a break?! Lol Anyways, this doesn't mean I haven't been busy on the tf2. The skid plate idea is doing just great so far(which is just trailing around the house) but I did remove the motor/trans and decided to disassemble the trans and grease it since it's been known to come with a q-tip sized dab of grease out of the box.. I can confirm that it was very little amount of grease for smooth operation. It worked but I could see some shift quality issues down the road if I didn't do this... So it's a win win, I KNOW there is proper amount of grease in all operating parts in this rig and that it was cleaned and maintained. I did switch out my old shift servo to my rc4wd mg servo for shift duties, set the EPA's and dabbed some grease on the servo horn to protect from water intrusion. It works great for this duty and looks good too. I also water proofed everything I could think of, well I should say water resisted everything to as best as I could lol. I won't sink or submerge this truck. I also managed to use an old proline floor pan from my old scx10 jeep to make some front inner fender liners. They're a bit ugly to look at when the body is off lol but it's about function and they work great and don't interfere with anything. So that's a plus. Then I did get some time to shoot some pics of my trailer I built, nothing fancy, functionality was kept in mind while cost was also a big factor, at work and with materials it didn't cost me but approx 35 bucks to build, plus the wheel/tires are stock 1.55 from a tf2 kit. Anyways, enough gab... Here's some pictures. |
