Default Need info on Trail Finder 2

I am looking to do my first kit and I am between the trail finder 2 and a home brew 2 speed SCX10. I have some questions about the trail finder 2. I am looking for something that is fun to crawl with but also fun to drive in the parking lot.

Can you shift from low to high without stoping?

Is the 2 speed useful or just a gimmick

How well does it take small jumps such as a crub

How fast is it in top speed I know this depends on motor and battery but what kind of speeds are people seeing.

Anyone chime in on the fitment of Tamiya's Land Cruiser body

What are its weak links aside form the drivelines.

How stable is it at speed while turing. I had a scx10 honcho rtr that seemed it would just fall over any time I turned.

The TF2 wasn't designed for jumping curbs. If you jump it a lot your leaf springs won't last very long.

It's not going to push 50mph... safely.

Tamiya Land Cruiser body will fit if you shorten the wheelbase. In stock form the TF2 wheelbase will be an inch too long.

It's not going to take high speed turns like a touring car.

What you mean is ,it will drive about like a full size Toyota truck would drive.
Depending how you drive it is how it will hold up. I drive mine hard and it's holding up good for me. Funnest rig I own.

Just the drive shafts, it's bullet proof.

Just buy it is what I'd say.

Yea I agree with the others, imagine driving a toyota pickup but 1/10 the size. Its no race car but I was surprised how fast it was when I got mine going. If you are looking for a 50mph care that will handle well this isnt it but it is fun as hell to drive and when you are driving it it really feels like driving a toyota truck. The realism is unsurpassed unless you are making everything yourself. The R3 trans is the best option for a 2 speed scaler, all the other options are not that great so if you do a custom 2 speed you are basically going to end up with a TF2 anyways.

They have dog bones, xvd's are a worthwhile upgrade.

My TF2 will pop a wheelie from a standing start in #2 gear, but it will roll over on its side if i do 100% steering lock turns at full speed. ( on tarmac )
Same on a lawn / soccer field too mutch sideways force and grip will topple any 4X4 offroader i guess.

On packed dirt / gravel it will only roll over if i hit a dent while im "sideways" at full trottle and full sterring lock, otherwise it just do its best trying to make doughnuts.

Running a 45T brushed motor / 3S lipo, and it will clean out the mud in the tyres with a punch of the trottle.

In #1 i still have exelent low speed control

As the other guys said. XVD`s and stronger driveshafts and you should be set

I am looking for some advice for the RC. I am a first time buyer & new to the RC world. The RC I will be purchasing is the trail finder 2. I would really appreciate any feedback on what additional parts i need to make it run (motor, radio control, etc). Like stated before I am completely new to the RC world so I am not sure whats in the box & what additional parts I would need to purchase to complete my RC. So it would b highly appreciated if u can help me pick the right parts to make it a decent trail and rock crawler, budget is around 750. Thank u all
