| The Madness TF2
I'm usually relatively creative due to my talent in ink drawings, so it sorta transfers over to names but I can't really think of a clever name for this boring old TF2 besides The Madness it has caused me during the entire 1.5 year build. This truck will be my tinker truck with more and more scale details added on and on. Specs: Futaba 4PL w/micro RX 1.9 raw steelies pin drive on Dirt Grabbers for now 1.55 Growlers next. Holmes TM 35T on 2s and 3s Holmes BRXL Waterproofed with a CC BEC @ 7.4V also Waterproofed Hitec 5645MG Waterproofed MIP's front and rear Added additional short leaf to the front end motor side Greased all internal gears with marine grease Krylon spray paint from Walmart Relocated drag above the front leafs Relocated RX box below bed Scale Junk (almost all of these are not even out of their bags yet!): Toyota SR5 Striping in white Toyota tailgate lettering in white Some junk LED set I found laying around probably for a drift car RC4WD Bench Seat Floor board (diamond plate sytrene chrome) Separated bed and cab with a ghetto velcro mount system Bunch of Team3Six stuff leftover from various builds Aluminum piping for a scale exhaust Minor Tamiya paint detailing for trims and lenses Well the reason this build took a year and a half was I kept robbing electronics from it lol. Explaining why I have a BRXL with a CC BEC for a weak 5645MG. The rig was actually driveable after a day's build. Just the paint and sanding took a bit of time. Also the waterproofing took a full day as well. Looking back at all these parts its incredible I actually had the patience to put it altogether LOL! This build was a challenge to me to see if I could do a true to scale build like you would see on the trails....not some jacked up SCX10 with a nice looking body and paint work with some crazy steel bumper/sliders/and rear bumper protector on top of a 4 link rear 3 link panhard that's still janky. That build is in my signature haha. So now Madness is 99% waterproof I have not waterproofed the radio box yet. Enough chit chat onto the pics. I still need to figure out how I can line up the cab and the bed now that I separated them for a more scale look without compromising their integrity in case of a roll over. And finally my 1.55 Growlers in comparison to the mounted 1.9 Dirt Grabber: Going to be playing with the idea of throwing on my Tundra banger body as well: |

Beauty rig you have there! I'm hoping to have my tf2 this coming tuesday! Also plan on keeping her as "scale" as possible.

Are you only using velcro on the front to hold down the body? Tundra looks good. |

Yes sir I think I'll be keeping the tundra body for just messing around in the yard. Not caring about rollovers or scratches. That tan body was going to be show body after I clear it and add the stripes and lettering emblems. I have another Mojave I'm doing in red but I'm taking my sweet time on it seeing how good I can't paint compared to my last red paint job on my scx10 tundra in my sig. We only get better with practice! Btw how far do you guys tighten the slipper? Being all metal gears it should be pretty tough...Axials I lock it all the way down if loaded... |

Since I mated this particular tundra together for strength rather than full scale as it used to be on a cc-01 I used as a bash rig its actually around 11.6-11.7"

No u have to shorten it a tad. Or adjust the wheelbase using the leaf setup on the TF2. Since my tundra was already shortened I didn't go that route and plus its much easier to change bodies instead of wheelbase of I want to change it up. IMO the tundra looks at home on a cc-01 with the Indy front and solid rear. The TF2 axles are too wimpy looking for a big half ton Tundra just using it since its near indestructible. Styrene reinforcement, bed and cab are plastic cemented together with this thick epoxy that dries like concrete lol. The I also reinforced it with two nuts and bolts as well. Then I fed the gap between the cab and bed together using chunks and chunks of styrene then putty the a ton of styrene work and sanding. Not fun. Upside is this is one of the thoughest true hardbody I can bang around like a lexan body without worry! |
