even though they are not exactly scaler rigs, is there any word on if an adation kit is being considered for a 4WD stampede? |

WOW i just noticed the other "predator tracks" thread http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/rc4wd...n-systems.html Although i know that these were prototypes they would have been AWESOME times 10 had they remained bare aluminum as they resemble the tracks used in the TERMINATOR movies. Hard anodized just makes them a mere AWESOME times 9.5 Can't wait for the set i ordered to arrive.... My Wife is gonna kill me.... Last edited by Lobonyc; 12-13-2011 at 02:53 PM. |

Someone should glue some 1.9 pit bull treads on the tracks.

So you got your Predator Tracks and drooled on them... What next: Well the initial thought would be to get them mounted up and run them but.... STOP!!! There are some things that you need to do to ensure a long lasting and enjoyable experience with them. Thread Lock all the screws that thread into aluminum. Use a Medium (Blue) Thread Lock to avoid them backing out. As the picture below with show...there are a total of 11 screws on each track...yeap, 44 total screws. And the cap that covers the wheel nut. Now that you did that, let them dry and then have at it. Make sure that all the parts move freely. Sometimes you can get thread lock on the bushings and will bind it up. if that happens, just move them to break it loose. ************************************************** ****************************************** After the Run Now you just spent the day tracking around in the snow and mud and you come home. Just throw it on the shelf for the next time...NOT!!! Keeping these working at their best requires a little maintenance after a run also. Take them off the rig: This will make it easier to do maintenance. Remove all the large debris: This can include rocks, chunks of mud/grass, sticks, etc. Remove the tracks: This is a good time to check for any wear, cuts or deterioration. Also, spray them with Simple Green or another cleaner and scrub them so they are ready to go. Clean well: I use a tooth brush and make sure that I get all the dirt off the grooves and track wheels. Get rid of all water: Using Motor Cleaner, spray them down to ensure that you have displaced all the water. Check all the screws: Make sure that your Thread Lock is holding up. Bearing Maintenance: Bearings do not like water or snow. Make sure that you have checked them good and there is no residual water in them. Lube them up: Using bearing oil or a good dry lube. It keeps the parts moving freely and with being dry, it doesn't hold onto dirt and grime. I like CowRC's Moo-Slick (I was not paid for the endorsement )...seriously, I like it because it drys with no heavy oil coating. Below is a diagram on where you need to thread lock and oil. Please note that the lower track wheels are held on with lock nuts. Now put it on the shelf until next time...and you will have endless fun with them. |

Our 1 to 3 inches of snow forecast, ended up being about 4 or 5 inches... JK was calling me all day so I got it out this afternoon.... Definitely, with this deep of snow, a lighter rig with more cowbell would run better but with a little patience and learning the throttle, I was able to plow through the snow that was over the hood... At one point I plowed myself a wall in front of me...I just backed up a little, put the hammer down and blew right through it. I may try them on a lighter rig with a little more speed. |
