| turning my RS-10 in to a scaler Ive desided i want to try and turn my RS-10 in to a scaler. I know how to make the chassis rails and all that. but i want to move the shocks over the axles. I plan on mounting the top of the shock to the chassis rails but i need to mount the lower shock to the axle, and i dont have any idea on how im gonna do that. Any ideas? |

check my bronco build thread, basically you use the same tabs as the lower links.

So you basically just get a longer screw w/ a lock nut and mount the shock to the same spot that the lower link mounts to the axle housing? Hell thats simply enough! Dont know why i didnt think of that! I was wondering what shock those where on your bronco build Docwolf?

the black ones are the g-made G-transitions with some rc4wd shock boots.

Oh i c, well im thinking i may need longer shocks for this build. The stock rs-10 shocks are only 4 inches long and im wanting to lift up the suspetion some so that ill shorten my wheel base about an 1.5 inches so that the wheels with light up with the wheel wells for the clod body im gonna get.

i wouldn't make it taller, taller equals top heavy, top heavy equals roll over. you would be better off moving the links around to shorten your wheel base. or get shorter links.

well i as gonna sit the body low on the chassis. Cuz the only other way to make it shorter would mean buying new links cuz these link are threaded and you cant shorten them. I dont really have the $$$ to buy links rite now.

bend em, move em, the stud does come out, use a pair of side cutters to hold the stud. if you raise the center of gravity, it will be top heavy, you will hate it.

Well im afraid if i try to bend them they will just break cuz there solid metal links on the bottom. Is there a way i could make my own links?

they won't break em, they are not that strong. Use a vice and a hammer or cheater pipe (long pipe used for leverage). you can make your own links, a lot of guys make them out of aluminum rod and either drill and tap the end or thread the end of the rod. most common is a 3mm 56 thread tap or die. you can also do 4mm threads. if you drill and tap the end, you can either use the studs you have or buy some from rc4wd, their cheap, i have also seen people simple drill the end bit enough for the stud to slide in and then used epoxy to secure the studs in place. if you thread the outside of the rod, you will first need to turn the end down some to make taping it easier. in this hobby, if you can imagine it, you can make it happen. |

Well i found a video on you tube that shows a rs 10 with stock bent links so im gonna try doing that. Do you think that will shorten up my over all wheel base a couple inches? I also thought about using some shorter rod ends and moving them in on the chassis some. what do you think ?
