| Ever break parts then upgrade them?
Right now, i'm dying to get one of these rs10's. but see they don't have too many parts to upgrade? if I ever stripped gears, I would get the steel ones, but I was wondering about the axle cases breaking or burning motors/esc servos? My plan is: comp crawler style digs 2ws still a stick pack different tires somewhere along the way Tho it may change, just so it can crawl good on my dirt/mud/bricks. What on it is waterproof? |

Just read some of the build threads on here and you'll see what aftermarket parts will work. There are also alot of rs10 youtube videos.

zno used to make very interesting upgrades for rs10s sad that they seem to have gotten away from that. servos are the first thing to go, but there are many to choose from esc is ok for what it does but it is limited to 8.4 volts and no lipo cutoff, plenty to choose from plenty of stock parts both new and used for chassis and suspension the main limitation is with the motors. we all want more power - speed but the cases are limited to the 380-390 sizes without the zno big boy modification. but we can find some brushless motors that will work just fine. the stock motors do well, some people use banebots when they upgrade, there are 400 motors but I have little experience there the beauty of the rs10 imo is that even though there is plenty of room for tweaking, it works well as is. as a platform for experimenting it is great, it is also a good way to learn about all the ins and outs of the hobby without spending a ton of money. looking at the builds you see all kinds of clever mods several mods where they made a bracket to mount the shocks on top of the housing attached where the last two screws hold the housing together, and if we expanded that to include lower link mounts and added 1/2" or so wheel wideners we would have more room for bigger motors. the list goes on and on ... the object is to have fun |

Honestly if you aren't breaking parts your aren't crawling hard enough. Half the fun is upgrading and tweaking, the other half is breaking shit so you can do more upgrades :P |

It's a surprisingly tough little rig. I was never gentle with mine and I broke very few parts. The plastic gears obviously went and so did the servos, but other than that I broke nothing. All the electronics are upgradeable to nice aftermarket stuff and there are enough compatible parts with the RS10 to keep you happy. You'll find in various build threads what works and what doesn't. You should really consider ditching the stick pack for lipo, though.

| Re: Ever break parts then upgrade them? Cool, but they fit? they are X-large servos? hell if they fit, looking at hobbyking I seen a 25kg servo with .16 turning time or something like that under $20

Watch out for the tpro servos. I had a few that i bought for about $15 each. They all lasted about a year of medium use. Then my buddy asked me where to get a servo for his rs10 so i told him to get the tpro. Well he found them for $6 each and bought i think 6 of them. They all broke or were doa within a run or 2. I think they make generic ones that are very subpar quality. Just a heads up. Not saying not to buy one as the good ones are really nice. Maybe try to buy from a well known company tho.

60G EXI Digital Coreless Servo-D226F w/ Metal Gear $14.70 from HobbyParts.com, I just installed two of this about a week ago and so far so good. I will say they are not the strongest, but seem to work well.

Limited slip? Well I think I broke something. The front passenger wheel is slipping. Haven't tore into it yet. Only 3 wheels spinning. The other kinda grabs every once in a while. Hope its an easy fix. All this snow around here is awesome. 4" of snow here.

Well come to find out it was a dogbone got bent about 45*. I must have been turning hard and hammering on it. It also bent the outer part off the differential cup. I straightened out the dog one and off I go. It will probably bend again, but at least I'm running. Differential cup not too bad, I'll probably just look for some extra dogbones.
