Default Servo Upgrade

Hey guys,

Its been awhile since I have been on here, I guess its because of all the fun I am having with my rs10!! Whoot!!

As you all know I am a newbie, and I have ordered some new servos to replace the factory plastic geared servo. Is their anything special I have to do? A friend of mine told me before I bolt it all up to plug it in and turn it on so the servo centers itself? Is this correct or what?

thanks for the help guys!!

My son loves the crawler too!

depends on brand of servo, the number of teeth on servo may be different - but new servo may come with pack of servo horns that you can use.

i would agree with powering up the rs10 before you attach the servo horn. this will center the servo.
straighten the wheels so they are pointing straight ahead and with the servo powered, slip on the horn.
try to have the horn pointing straight down so that the servo will have full swing either way without it locking up

after it is connected turn the steering full left (or right) and listen to the servo, if it is huming
you will need to adjust the endpoint in a bit, if it is not humming, maybe increase the endpoint to get the max swing.
if you dont use the original horn this is important. also keep in mind that the farther from the servo mounting hole
that you attach the steering link the more the swing.

be sure and check the steering both directions
