| Redcat Racing super crawler servo question
Just bought a super crawler and now I need to know the dimensions of the servo that goes in it. I bought mine used and it did not come with a servo so I don't know what size to get. Also if someone could recommend an aftermarket servo that works good that would be great.

standard size servo - aproximatly 40mm x 20mm x 40mm (the last is the height and varies a bit more) there are many servos, get a metal gear one and the highest torque you can afford with servos the choice a fairly good one you throw away or a very good one you send back for repair just for grins look through here for ideas - already did a partial filtering for 8kgs or better http://www.servodatabase.com/servos?...height=gt-1.42 Last edited by cabron; 01-30-2016 at 12:20 PM. |

Can you post a picture of the servo on the front of the crawler please. I think I might be missing something on the front of mine, maybe the mount for the servo.

the best I can do is to give you this link Rockslide 1/8 Scale Super Crawler 2.4GHz look on the right hand side near the top and it will show an online manual, download it. besides the instructions it also has a parts list and a schematic of the whole crawler it will show you all the parts and where they go if you still have problems call me and I can go over the schematic with you , I downloaded it too. a friend had one so I learned a bit from listening to him Last edited by cabron; 01-30-2016 at 04:55 PM. |

I just bought the 1/8 Rockslide used also. When it turns to the left, part of the steering link hits the front bumper. It only hits in the front, but not in the back. Also there is no nut to hold on the servo horn on the front or rear servo. Anyone else have these issues? I don't mean to steal this thread, but thought I would add to the servo conversation about this crawler.

pictures always help to see the problem better. as a rule there is no nut per se on the servo horn, the horn is threaded for the links and the metal spline gear is threaded for a 3mm screw. if the links are hitting the bumper on turns, most likely cause is the horn is not centered when the wheels are pointing straight ahead. again, pictures would help to see the problem. if you bought this crawler used, there might be other problems like the wrong horn or the wrong steering links. compare them to the servo in the back. when the crawler get the power turned on, the servos all try to go to their neutral position. check the horns to make sure they are vertical when the battery gets plugged in ( and switch turned on if you have one - make sure you turned on the transmitter first to avoid and nasty surprises ) |
