Default Axial Deadbolt body on Gen 8?

Looking for a good, lighter weight/lower CG body for a Gen 8. After searching online and other posts it appears a Axial Deadbolt body will fit on a Gen 8 but just wanted to confirm before I buy it.

Thx!

Axial Deadbolt: Wheelbase: 305mm

Redcat Gen8: Wheelbase: 324mm Stock (312-336mm Adjustable)

They are fairly close, but the Deadbolt has a caged roof which will technically mean the body will give you more weight up high - so not a performance gain.

If you ran something like the JConcepts Tucked 1989 Ford F-250, it would be a bit lighter, have a narrowed (pinched) front and rear, and also be able to be slammed lower on your chassis.

It's right at 312mm, too.

The Pro-Line Cliffhanger would also provide the same advantages - or the JConcepts Creep, or the Element Enduro Ecto.

the section on bodys in the gen8 rule book says only scout bodys are allowed to be used on a gen8 if you fail to use a gen8 body you will be forced to run the llyoid body
ive herd that in some countrys its considered a felony and you could be locked up for it lol

all bs aside you can make just about any body fit just about any rig it just takes some work

Okay got it.

I do like both the 89 F-250 and Cliffhanger so maybe one of those is the way to go.

So would something like the Trail Honcho (which looks to be at the low end of the Gen 8's adjustable wheel base range) with the rear cage provide any performance gain or does the cage still add a good bit of weight? I like the look of that body so for that reason I might we willing to give up some performance.

Thanks for the help!

The Trail Honcho is probably a hair heavier overall than the ones I mentioned earlier but likely closer to the stock body.

The shape will be better for avoiding getting hung up on obstacles than the Gen8.

I'd say buy the one you like the looks of the most!

The tucked F-250 body won't fit, the frame is too long on the gen8, so unless you want to cut down your chassis I wouldn't go with that. I made that mistake, I ended up settling on the J-Conepts 1993 f150, mounted up perfectly and with some trimming you can get it to sit really low
