On a full scale, cables called Limb Risers are sometimes rigged that way. As per the name, the intent is to allow low hanging tree limbs to slide up and over the windshield, instead of smacking straight into it.

On a full scale, they absolutely need to be properly rigged cables, not just bungee cords, but I suppose bungee cords on the small trucks make for a reasonable facsimile.
