Looking really good Ernie! Do you have any AR44 based straight axle rigs you could put next to it for a width comparison?

Been considering a rear portal build using the ssd axle but I’m hesitant with the track width added for the portal boxes.

For the gearing in the portals, they are 16t and 14t gears so normal reduction is 1.14, so a 14% underdrive from stock if you will. Flipping them around gets it to 0.875 which is a 12.5% OD compared to stock. In your case, running the rear normal and the front reversed would give you a little over a 23% overdrive up front from my math.

This build is really comin' to a boil...

I am lovin' the dropped body - especially with the air cleaner pokin' out the hood!

And I'm at a loss for words for the drivetrain...

So far just frozen stiff

It actually just started snowing overnight, its just been bitter cold the past few weeks. There is a foot of ice on the lakes and but a trace of snow in the bush.

I picked up snow trax for my TRX, likely why it hasn't been snowing Looks like I will get a chance to play this weekend.

Hey Mark, a man of few words, but then again a pic is worth a 1000 of them.

Thanks for the kind words young man. I will post up some photos at the bottom of this. And thanks for running the numbers, 23% is right where I'm at with my Pro and I love it!

Thanks durok, some how I thought the air cleaner thing kind of gave it a NastyTruckish Racing look.

Here are some photos for you Topher. The King's truck is at 10" with SSD wheels and hubs and my Pro is at 9 3/4" I think by playing with hubs and wheels you could get close to standards width.

And no, I'm not trying to make a "Highbred" The Pro still has some Corona Del Mar sand/dirt on it.

Trail King. 10"

Pro 9 3/4" 1/8" wider on each side.

And the money shot, Clearance difference is very notable!! And COG is not that much different using Casey's battery tray!

Go for it!
Ernie

Photobucket is having some technical problems so we will see how this works.
So I painted the Petty body and debated on weathering/aging the body and the rust won!

It took two days to go from a shiny truck to this. I wanted weathered decals so put them on before I started the process. The STP and Numbers are painted on the inside.

Ok, enough blabbing, I'll let the pics do the talking. 3 days of layers, sanding and then doing all over again.

I think the brothers like it! Thanks for looking,
Ernie
