Hey everyone, I'm a new member here but a long time lurker (cliche, i know). I just wanted to share my Bruiser restoration project that I'm currently working on. I have the typical story everyone else has about always wanting a Bruiser growing up and as soon as I saw the re-release I went ahead and picked one up. After getting the re-release, I caught the scale 4x4 bug and ended up buying a vintage Bruiser off eBay to have a project to work on. Here it is right out of the box ![]() I put power to the motor and it shifts just fine to all gears. Doing a quick tear-down and inspection of all the parts ![]() Looks like the axles were already converted to ball bearings ![]() All parts and hardware are soaked overnight in a vinegar bath ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So right now the frame is looking good and I am going to replace all the screws with stainless hex screws. I don't want any problems with rust so I will drop off all the frame pieces for chrome. I will post more pics when I pick up the pieces and continue the build. I would love your input and recommendations. Thanks for following! Last edited by Mr.Bruiser; 08-19-2013 at 12:42 AM. |

Looking into getting the Rummy mod done to these axles and then having them all polished up. I just sent a message to 1badjeepbruiser to see if he could help me out. I'm planning to get this thing polished/chromed as much as possible. ![]() Anyone got any tips to press out those red bearings from the axles? Thanks! Got all the pieces back from the chrome shop and started the assembly. The chrome looks amazing, this will definitely be my baby. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Waiting for my Rummy axle Cs to arrive and then I will get the rest of the truck completed. If anyone has experience machining the rear axle for the Rummy mod and can do it for me please send me a pm! stay tuned thanks! Last edited by Mr.Bruiser; 08-19-2013 at 01:00 AM. |

Hey, thanks for the response! From what I understand Nick Rummy is retired from dealing with bruiser axles and 1badjeepbruiser is supplying me with the C's but he can't offer machining at this time. So I figure I'd try to see if anyone else on this forum can do it. Hopefully if anything I can find a local machinist who can get it done. | |
