Default My first stab at a super!

So I got a Clod for free from a guy from work, he even gave me the knuckles and axle tubes! I put in some lockers and I'm patiently waiting for TTR to get the CVD's back in stock but its going together until then. I have some 50t motors but I'm waiting on themotor mounts and 8 tooth pinions. I also have a sidewinderI'm going to use until the Mamba Max Pro comes out.

What do you guys think so far?

Nope, not yet. Come to think of it, out of the 23 years of RC I have never sold anything! I just wish I had kept all my old stuff in working condition, not take it all apart and lose all the parts!

So I took out my super for the first time today and it didnt take long to find some flaws.
First - The shocks need a better way to mount to the links so I ordered some delrin rod and TLT shock mounts. I also ordered some airplane gear doos brackets that look like they might work on my current links.
Second - The servo mounts rotate on the axle braces so I reworked it a little and its much more solid now. I took the axle braces off but if I break a gearcase I'll just replace them with aluminum.

Other then that it crawled awesome! I went up my stairs like they were flat, and the few stones I have in my yard that give my Cliff Climber a workout were a joke!

Does anybody have any other tips or pointers they can give me by looking at my pictures? I think I have it pretty good now but I still need some TTR cvd's. If you have any kicking around let me know! I was also thinking of doing 35T motors instead to get a little more wheel speed, the 50T's are a little slow for me. How are the 35's in a super?

Looks like a good start, welcome to the world of Supers.
Personally I think 15" is a bit wide, I run my super at just under 13" wide. It is plenty stable and is more maneuvorable.

What battery are you running? I use 45T motors and 9t front/8t rear pinions in my super and on 11.1V 3S LiPo it has pretty good wheelspeed. Not a ton but it's got some bump to it. I am going to try 4S once I get my new Torquemaster ESC in.

Going to 35T motors and switching to 6t pinions is a good setup. Check out joe's championship super.

I would go a little narrower but I'm limited by my wheels right now. I wish new wheels and tires weren't so much money!

Right now I'm running a 3s 2200mah lipo, I'm going to stick with the 3s but I'm thinking of picking up something in the 5000 range for longer run times.

After blowing through 2 heavy duty servo servo arms it 10 minutes of crawling I realized plastic is not going to cut it at all! I ordered some aluminum but I don't think my servos are going to last much longer. This is getting very expensive

So I bought some airplane geardoor brackets that work perfect for shock mounts on the links but after a couple minutes my front servo casing cracked and it fell off! HAHA one thing after another with the thing . I ordered a new front servo JR DS8711 and some servo clamps. Hopefully this will be it for a while.
